balancing DBL and later DBLs

LHO deals and you hold white against red at MP's:

x-Axxx-KJxx-Kxxx

And the bidding starts:

(1S)-p-(p)-DBL

(p)-p-(2D)-??

(2H)-DBL-(p)-

- - -

Should you DBL 2D or have you said enough with the initial DBL?

...I guess it is clear to pass out 2H DBLed?

Nice textbook initial double.

edit: somehow I failed to notice that partner passed 1 for penalty! So double of 2 is automatic with KJxx behind the suit and you should definitely sit for 2X once partner hits it, although I wouldn't hit it on my own.

I would double 2D. They are running and I have diamonds. If I don't double then I give partner, who likely has a decent hand, an impossible problem.

Delightful to pass 2HX.

Agree with Han. An easy X of 2, cooperating with partner's penalty pass and showing my good diamonds.

Just be glad you didn't get tricked into defending 2 undoubled (or partner bid 2 over it instead).

shocked that Han would double 2, I think it shows a monster hand. How is p supposed to act over my double if all he has is a spade stack?

Anyway, my first double pretty much told my story and I'm happy to pass p's penalty double now.

It is possible that partner has nothing but spades Helene but it isn't likely given that we have a mere 12-count, RHO passed the 1S opening and LHO didn't do more than open 1S and pass.

In the meantime you have 4 defensive tricks and if you think that your balancing double showed that then I disagree.
