Bug - or error:

When I sit down at a table, the table name is the same as host. But the host-sign is shown besides the name. When the host leave, and a new player becomes table-host, THEN the host-sign appears.

 

Edit: hmmm - this comes and goes. I need to recheck this.

When looking at the hand records, the Recent Tournaments works fine and is a very nice feature.

 

Recent Hands seems only to contain 100 hands that are extremely old.

Thanks to all the people reporting bugs. I have been busy fixing them, but most fixes will not go into effect until I deploy a new version of BBOFlash (likely within a day or 2).

I just tried to kib an "interesting table".

The table list showed a table with "reisig" in all seats, so I guessed that might be an interesting lecture. But without seeing the cards or the bidding, just reading the chat and seeing the played cards, is only half the fun.

I am having trouble using the "exotic"-letters æ ø å [ae, oe, aa] from the nordic languages. I can see my fellow norwegians using it, displayed correctly in the BBOFlash but they are using the client. The flash version is not compatible for input of these three letters - NOT a big problem though ;)

This is almost a quantum leap in terms of richness and flow. I actually have it running inside a VirtualBox VM without a hitch.

 

I'll try it tonight in my VM of Server 2008 Beta 3 for smiles and giggles once it finishes installing.

In theory you should now get your 100 most recent hands.

I do now see my last 100 hands. Either you've fixed it or (I guess) there was an initialisation problem.

I was kibitzing a Ladder Match and wanted to see if all the comparative scores were in.

 

I clicked on "My Results" "Other Tables" and found the # showed as the board number for the table. The only way to know if all 16 comparators were in was to count them.

2 things:

When I make changes in my profile I notice that making changes in the table and general preferences doesn't activate the "Save Changes" button.

 

I was also looking into the BBO$. Can I use them?

When I go to the buy BBO$ link I find that it is not a secure site.

Some of these problems may go away with the next version (coming soon), but some may not go away for a while.

 

Eventually anyone using BBOFlash will be able to see "exotic" characters in chat regardless of the language of the sender or receiver of a given chat message. BBOWin does not work this way - characters that are exotic from the point of view of the person receiving the chat generally appear as garbage.

I have "Show played cards" enabled. Usually this shows the played cards in gray, like BBOWin and the previous BBOFlash. But sometimes it just leaves them in black, with no way to distinguish the played cards from the unplayed.

 

This afternoon I was kibitzing the Cayne vs Stars team game, and it started out fine. Then I got logged out for inactivity. When I logged back in, I was initially put into "Hide played cards" state, and when I changed this I was in the state where it showed them in black.

 

Also, I don't think I got any warning that I was going to be logged out if I didn't respond, like the previous BBOFlash did. I guess this isn't really any worse, since the previous version was lying that responding would prevent the logout.

I was kibitzing a Pairs tourney. After the tourney is over, how does the kibitzer view the results of the just completed tourney?

 

I dont think we have the option of following a player in tourney exists as of now.

You are correct that there is currently no way to follow a player in a tourney.

 

There is a way to look at the tourney results. From "home":

 

1) Play. Watch. Browse.

2) Browse all tables

3) Tournaments

 

You will then see a list of all recently completed, currently running, and starting-soon tournaments. Each of the recently completed tournaments in the list has a "results" button associated with it.

As of a few weeks ago, we do have a bug-tracking system. It is very useful!

2) Do you have any further details about the sequence of events that took place when you tried to register for a pairs tourneys? In particular, do you remember seeing any notifications like "Invitation issued, please wait", "You have been registered in the tournament", etc? Did you see you and your partner's names appear in the list of registered users?

 

3) When you say you saw your partner's alert, do you mean you saw the explanation that he typed for one of his own bids? If yes, do you remember if the explanation appeared at the same time as bid itself or "after the fact"?

I have fixed most of the problems that have reported and added some other improvements. Here is a nice new thing to try:

 

After you play in a duplicate tourney, you can now look at the results and movies at all tables via the "my results" facility on the right part of the screen.

Other changes:

 

Safari and Explorer now use our homegrown popups for web pages. Other browsers use the browser itself; popupblockers will interfere if you choose.

 

The "show me my recent hands" now shows you most recent 100 hands, most recent first. Opinions about whether 100 is too low/high are welcome.

 

I still see linux acting up unless it has the latest flash player.

I was able to self adjust this - the My Result hands, when I look at the cards that had been played (the "movie"-thing) - so...not that big of a problem, but I like to keep them small - so the "10" is a bit wide.

Well, I have to admit - I had taken a couple of beers - so... but I was able to make an invitation. But partner never recieved this. Later, when he invited me to a different tournament, I was "blocked" - not able to attend.

Twice today during a tournament, my partners alert was visible to me. As far as I know, this happened on the new version.

I run it in Ubuntu 8.04 beta version, under Firefox 3 beta 4. But Flash should behave the same cross-plattform.

There's still an issue with private chat I think:

 

When you're kibitzing or playing at a table and chat is banned it's fine, but if you're in the lobby and chat to a similar table (i.e. with chat disallowed) you can. Therefore someone could kibitz, write down the hands and then relay them from the lobby.

 

I've only tried this with tables that have been set up by a friend and have no cards out yet, so this might be because there's no cards dealt yet.

Initial stages, kibitzing is disallowed in ACBL tournaments.

In BBOFlash, it continues to show as disallowed till the end, even though the status as allowing Kibitzing is changed in the last round.

But, if you log out and log in again in the middle of the last round, kibitzing is allowed.

But if you log-in early, it continues as kibitzing disallowed till the end.

Answers:

 

1) It is unlikely that we will support the creation of "teaching tables" in the first official release of BBOFlash. You can already join an existing teaching table with BBOFlash.

 

2) Yes and no. Security restrictions in Flash prevent Flash programs from accessing files on your local hard disk. However, we are currently planning on creating a facility whereby people can create, store, and load .lin files from our servers. At this point in time I think it is likely that this facility will be part of our first official release. Much of the work is already done, but for the purposes of the most recent betas we decided to remove all references to this facility.

 

We do not have any official plans with respect to the possible retirement of NetBridgeVu.exe. Probably this will happen one day, but that day could easily be several years away. It is certainly not going to happen any time soon.

Under Firefox Flash version works fine now. I got an icon and a message, had to install flash version 7,019,0. After downloading BBOFlash is O.K. Under IE6 BBOFlash still has no luck.

I'm not sure that what we're doing now in the flash thing is wrong. I took a more liberal attitude towards chatting with players in a T

 

I'll refine the rules with my next server upgrade.

 

Re: speccing ACBL Ts

 

When you see a table list, it isn't constantly kept current like it is today. so "refresh" will pick up any changes, in theory. so when a T changes from specs-not-allowed to specs-allowed, you'll (supposedly) see the latest permissions (allow-spec) when you get a table list provided you get the list after the perms have changed, of course.
