Mr. Dodgy
I am kibitzing a tournament table, in the bottom left-hand corner it says "round 3 of 3 complete", even though they are only playing the 8th board out of nine.
Mr. Dodgy
Refresh oddities... The tournament finished SEVERAL minutes ago - yet the last table is still displayed in my browser window. If I try to join it I get a message 'error. could not join table'. I noticed something similar when a player had 'disconnected' - the old player name remained displayed in red when viewing the table list despite having been substituted. paulg
Logging in as invisible does not work. Resizing the right hand column (with friends in it, etc.) does not work in 1024x768. Information disappears off to the right My UK keyboard is not recognised, all input is based on a US keyboard layout. For example, SHIFT+2 generates '@' rather than a double quote. fred
Not possible to kibitz when dummy? I think we made it so that dummy is able to see only his own hand and declarer's hand except in contexts like MBTs (where you can see all 4 hands). Not sure if that answers your question or if the program is working as designed in this area. Please elaborate if you think there is an issue here. Paul Sorry about invisible - we seem to have broken something here. Until we fix it I suggest you log in as "anonymous" if don't want people to know you are online. Note that anonymous logins cannot play or chat. About the UK keyboard problem, can you please let me know: - What browser and operating system you are using- Whether or not seems to happen in all places in which you can type. It sounds like you might have tried this when trying to enter a chat message, but what happens if you try the same thing by typing in the "Find" area near the top right of your screen (for example)?- Are there any characters you have discovered that behave "normally"? If so, what are they? I can probably make the right part of the screen do something more sensible if you make it too small to fit. I will look into this. If I try to join it I get a message 'error. could not join table'. I noticed something similar when a player had 'disconnected' - the old player name remained displayed in red when viewing the table list despite having been substituted. This is a symptom of one of the big differences between BBOFlash and BBOWin: BBOWin is always aware of the complete state of the system while BBOFlash is sent information from our servers on a "need to know" basis. I don't want to get into a long discussion about the advantages and disadvantages of each of these approaches, but the main issue here is that the BBOWin approach was not scalable in the long term. The more people who log into BBO at once, the slower BBOWin gets and our servers have to do more and more work to service all of these people. To make matters worse, the relationship between the # of people on BBO and the workload for both BBOWin and our servers is not linear in nature. From the point of view an experienced BBOWin user who is thinking of moving the BBOFlash, this represents good news and bad news. The good news is faster and more stable connections. The bad news is that, in some parts of the program, you will have to do a little extra work to get the same results. For example, you now have to click "Refresh" (in BBOFlash itself - not your browser's "Refresh" button!) to see a table list update whereas table lists update themselves constantly and automatically in BBOWin. When we learn more about how people use BBOFlash it is likely that we will be able to improve our definition of what information falls into the category of "need to know". Rfjiord
Tried the new beta, nice improvements! Two things, I wanted to re-play a hand but there was an ad for cruises over the buttons that I couldn't remove. Also when I left and came back could not retrieve the hands that I played earlier. Paul You are correct - the default mode is for EW hands to be displayed in 4 rows ordered from shortest suit to longest suit. Agree this is awkward when kibitzing, but the alternative of aligning the suits regardless of length results in an even stranger effect. Probably the best solution for now is, when kibitizing, to use a single row to display the EW hands. You can change this by right-clicking just about anywhere on the bridge table. Not sure what we are going to end up doing here in terms of default setting (or settings - we might have separate settings for playing and kibitzing). Dwingo
I tried creating a Team Match. I couldn't talk to Lobby asking for people who are interested. Then I entered Lobby to the left of the chat line and sent many message to Lobby and I did not get any response. paulg
UK Keyboard problem. A quick google suggests that there is a problem with Firefox and Flash when wmode=transparent is used. I have tracked this down to what appears a bug in how Firefox interprets Flash when the wmode is used to set transparency, and not because of an issue in Formbuilder. To put it shortly, wmode=transparent does not play well with Firefox. It breaks textfields. First of all it hides the flashing cursor on focus, which is annoying enough (that has been known for a long time). Sometimes it's not even possible to write in the textfield as it becomes magically locked. But another bug cropped out that simply makes the keyboard mappings completely screwy and all non-standard characters become broken. There is also something on what appears to be the more generic issues at http://niquimerret.com/?p=94. Paul
fred
There is no problem when I use Internet Explorer. Paul Thanks Paul. This is helpful info. I am investigating. We have already found that there are plenty of areas in which the IE version of Flash Player is more reliable than the Firefox version. Hopefully Adobe (the company responsible for Flash) will eventually do something about this - it is likely that most of these FF-only bugs are out of our control. As such, for now I would suggest that people who both FF and IE installed use IE for the purposes of accessing BBOFlash.
