Here are three hand from a recent topflight event. See how your bidding compares with the topflight club members. Good luck.

[hv=d=w&v=n&s=saqj9764ha54d7c43]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]West    North   East    South

1      2      Pass    ? ?

Every EAST opened 1, every north overcalled in 's. Would you blast to 4 opposite a 2 overcall? How about opposite a 3 jump overcall?

        Pass    Pass    1

Pass    3    Pass    ?

You were too good for 1NT (15-17), your partners jump to 3 was inverted minor raise. Your bid?

3 was forcing, 2 was new minor forcing. What do you bid?

1 ) a ) I bid 2, NF constructive, mostly because my singleton in pd's opening suit. Good thing my pd's bid with fit and if they don't have fit I will hear something else. After 3 I I will bid 3 , which pd will raise to game even with a void but with nice other cards.

b ) After 3 I will bid 3, and again pd will bid with fit.

2 ) 3 NT, it is IMP's and we have about as much chance of making this as 3 .

3 ) Pd obviously doesn't wanna tell us what he has in his hand, except for the 4 , I have no idea what else he has, sounds like 4-2-4-3 hand. With 5 I really hope he would have bid 3 after 3. But I don't want to gamble 6 even though my gutt tells me I should. I just need to know too much specific cards out of pd's hand and I don't have the room to do that savely.

1) 2H if pd bids 3d I bid 3s. If pd bids something else I bid 4s

2) 3h, check if pd can cooperate with a heart stopper. I think I will sell out for 4d otherwise. Passing 3d is just too risky. Pd can have Qxxxxx of diamonds and the hA.

3) Looks like pd has a bad 4-2-5-2 hand. But I really think that we have some chances for a slam. So I think I will bid 4d and see if can cuebid in hearts. I'm not sure where are we going to stop after 4d but I can't pass 3N with this hand.

With the first hand, I will bid 2H first, then bid my spade. I think 4S is a certainty, we may even have a slam.

With the second hand, I will jsut bid 3N.

With the third hand, pass and pray 3N make. Your 3C has already show slam interest and pd still want to play 3N.
