jchiu
West is so full of ***** ... Fortunately, he must have tons of practice playing atrocious contracts.
matmat
2♣ eh... i'd be looking for the red card with that collection.
cherdano
How can West not double this?I would also take 2♣ as suggesting longer clubs, since with 5 spades you can bid 2♠, and with a balanced hand you pass...or double...
pclayton
I dont care for 2C - I think x is clear unless you are playing with a lunatic.
helene_t
Yes, West was wrong. Easts pass is normal.
Cascade
2♣ eh... i'd be looking for the red card with that collection. Partner passed 1♠ i think the red card is too much. However with a balanced hand I would not be suggesting another contract - a green card will do. I can't see a really bad action from east although opening with balanced 10 counts does work out badly surprisingly often (unless partner knows you can be this light). This good diamond suit probably makes 1♦ ok. However west's 2♣ is off the planet in my opinion.
rogerclee
Agree with everyone else that West is really nuts.
skjaeran
I think a pass over 1NT is clear. East passed 1♠, strongly suggesting less than opening strength or an ugly minimum. With a balance full opener east would rebid 1NT or 2♠ (with four of them). Take away the ♣Q and this is still a 3rd seat 1♦ opening to me. I agree mostly with the first, not at all with the second; I'd open 2♦ without the ♣Q or pass.
Echognome
Seems we have unanimity. I was East. My partner was very unpleased after the hand. I told him "No worries. I always played 2♣ there as 4♠, 5+♣." He messaged me afterwards and said "was fine pd except yr pass on 2♣ was a horror imo:)" I told him he should keep his mind open and I would post it. P_Marlowe
Hi, west should either pass or make a penaltydouble, given that East passed 1S, I can understand a Pass. But one thing is sure, West should not bid 2C. With kind regardsMarlowe PS: I would have passed with the East hand, which may explain why I would double with theWest hand, I will always hold a stronger hand as the current East hand. gnasher
I'd have opened 2♦ with or without ♣Q. Once I would have opened 3♦.
