the hog
Your partner displayed excellent bridge judgement in not liking the bid. 3H is a gross overbid.
Codo
Even 3H after 1S-x-p has been a long-time "delicate" matter... Maybe 3x in these auctions should be "tactical" and allow for the weaker hands with longish trumps, not exactly preemptive, but then again:) Finally someone knows what he is talking about. I know 3♥ is just right ;) . I just wanted to know how many would bid it. My partner didnt like the bid (we went -1 ). Only after score from other table came up (3♣ making) did he quieten down . Maybe you should built up a new partnership with jkdood. With your superior bidding abilities we will soon see you winning most great tournements. I think I will quit bridge in the meanwhile, I cannot compete with so big brains.
jtfanclub
I just wanted to know how many would bid it. My partner didnt like the bid (we went -1 ). Only after score from other table came up (3♣ making) did he quieten down . Arrrgh. If you only went down 1 with this crap, then your partner either had a lot of points or a lot of hearts for you. So the auction likely would have gone.... (P) -P- (2♣) X(P) 2♥ (P) P3♣ -P- (P) 3♥ So you would have ended up there anyways. So what did your bid solve, exactly? It kept them from bidding 4♣? But that would have been the best result you could have hoped for. Meanwhile, you risked a penalty X and down 2 for 500. And who knows, maybe they'd let you play at 2♥. What do you think your risky bid accomplished? You could always have walked the dog later had you really felt the need to compete to 3♥. jdonn
hey! i "posited" 3h in a different auction.... SO WAT WOULD YOU SASSY FOLK BID WITH MY HYPOTHETICAL 4COUNT? 2♥ wtp? 3♥ (even if agreed as possible on that hand type, which is non-standard to the extreme) = partner hates you with his club monster. Hey I only said you "maybe" agree with him :(
