Hairy_Scot
In an online individual tourney you pick up this hand :- [hv=d=s&v=n&s=skqj643ha2dak4cq2]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner's profile states SAYC and not much else, so there are no agreements in force and no time to discuss any. What do you bid?Is it enough for 2 ♣ ? Let's say you decide on 1 ♠ . Partner responds 2 ♣ .What now?It seems in the modern game that a jump rebid shows weakness and can be passed, so will 3 ♠ be a good idea?Does 2 ♠ tell the story? What about 3 ♦ ? helene_t
In SAYC, 3♠ shows 16+ points and a decent 6-card so that's your rebid. If you miss a good diamond slam maybe you can blame the system :D 2♠ would be forcing for one round btw but not everyone with "SAYC" on his profile knows that. Hairy_Scot
I chose 3♠ and was passed out! Made 11 tricks. :D
P_Marlowe
I chose 3♠ and was passed out! Made 11 tricks. Happens, next board. But playing with another guy, how would you have felt after bidding 4S and making 12 tricks? With kind regardsMarlowe
Cascade
3♠ is normal. I don't know where the idea of this being weak comes from. Partner isn't much of a partner if he passes. Oh well you get that in an INDY.

Codo
There are too many Indiots playing Indies. 3 ♠ is never weak after a 2/1 .But think positive: 3♠+ 2 is a much better score then 6 ♠ -

A jump rebid after 2/1 is game forcing and you should bid that.
joker_gib
stop playing indies LOL ! Agree :P
skjaeran
The hand isn't strong enough to open 2♣. In a natural, non-2/1 system the only appealing bid here is a GF 3♠.
