3. I didn't like the choice of the player who held this hand, although more clubs might prompt a call from hyper aggressive opps. We have a lot of bits and pieces that are useful for defense.

I think given that this hand is a big double fit (partner has at most 3-3 majors), it is far more common that both 4C and 3M being makers than that 3M and 4C are going down. So I think it is an error to be willing to sell to 3M by the opponents.

With something like QTx, KJxx,Qxxx,xx my pd had surely bid 1 NT over 1 Club X, so I don't see why he must have at most 3-3 in the majors.

 

But he surely has honours in the majors, so I just bid 3 Club and leave the final descission to him.
