oldman5757
My first post here, really just a judgment and style question, curious what everyone thinks. At IMPs, favorable, you hold ♠Q10 ♥KQJ10xxxx ♦ ♣xxx RHO bids 2♣ (strong artifical, forcing). 4♥ seems obvious, but is there a serious case for 5♥? I bid 4♥. Around to RHO who bid 5♦. Do you bid 5♥ now? I didn't, and LHO bid 6♦. RHO then bid 6NT. Is it time for 7♥? :)
Fluffy
Wellcome to the forums! I am surprised that they tried 6NT at IMPs Once I overcalled 4♥ I think I am forced to pass all the time, I can't beat 7NT, let alone that 1100/1400 at IMPs is not great compared to 1440. han
Agree more or less with Gonzaliones. We made them guess, maybe they guessed wrong we have no idea. 7H is not likely to be much cheaper than 6NT so passing seems right.
cherdano
I would have overcalled 5♥.
hrothgar
Comment 1: I think that this is a hand where you take one bid then shut up. I don't like the idea of giving the opponents the chance to make a couple bids (Diamonds and then NT) and then give them the chance to penalty double you a level higher Comment 2: For me, the question is whether to bid 5♥ or 6♥ over 2♣. I think I'd bid 5♥
Guest Jlall
Richard you are becoming conservative, what happened?
Apollo81
I think what you did was reasonable, though a bit conservative. I'd prefer a direct 5♥ or psych (I like 2♠ as a psych, though here I'd choose 5♥). I wouldn't take two bids here in any case. At least with the 4♥ bid you know you aren't going for too much no matter what. Change your majors and I'd bid just 4♠.
skjaeran
I'd bid 5♥ directly (or maybe 6♥ once in a blue moon...).
