y66
Just saw this hand on BBO Pard opens 2C (strong). RHO passes. J97 --- JT75432 J83 Some play 2N shows a really bad 7-card suit. Is this useful? Would have been on this hand. Pard had --- AKQxxxx AKx KQx.
matmat
wonder how often this would totally wrongside a NT contract...
Tola18
How is it working? Does opener bid 3C: pass or correct, unless shehe has game on own hand? A little á la Lebensohl? Better is, I think, similiar but another modell. In Sweden it is common with 2D as almost mandatory relay. Exception: long, weak major 6+ hands. You bid these, opener can pass. Bids on only with either a good fit OR selfgoing gamehand. This makes many Swedes reverses the 2NT: 2NT=22-24, 2C followed by 2NT is the usual 20-21. The risk is thus much lesser that 2NT - 3x, 3M goes one down if responder has a yarborough. Now, it is easy to build up that convention into a further agreement, as all bids are empty: 3C and 3D similiar weak hands. Perhaps even 2NT 55 in minors. whereagles
wonder how often this would totally wrongside a NT contract... Not really. A weak hand with bad 7 card suit normally plays best in the suit, not in NT.
Finch
How about2C (strong)..... 2D (negative)2H (hearts)......3D (diamonds)6D next board (OK, opener can weeble around a bit first if you like but that's the conceptual auction)

Most play it as a self supporting suit. I can't imagine this hand wouldn't qualify.

It wouldn't qualify because you can easily belong in a minor suit, and because 3H not only promises a self supporting suit but it demands cuebidding which is not what you want to happe on this hand. People over use this bid on random 2C openers with "solid" suits wayyyy too much.
