awm
Third seat. Pass-1♦ to you, favorable at MP. What's your call? [hv=d=n&v=e&s=skhqjt8xxxdcakxxx]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv]

Al_U_Card
At favorable, am I bidding to make? If so, 4H. I think rather that they are on for 4S or 5D so I will bid 5H and try to look indifferent.
Cascade
1♥ for me. I can't see why this isn't our hand. Spades might be a problem but the opponent's average number of spades must be less than 8. I could show hearts and clubs with 2NT but I tend not to do that without substantial extra strength when I have six or more hearts.
rogerclee
4♥ for me. I just think this is the practical bid to make.
pclayton
4♥ and 5♣ over 4♠.
the hog
4H for me also.
awm
I went with the plurality (so far) and bid 4♥. I thought there were good chances 4♠ would come back to me, over which I could bid 5♣. This did not happen. Instead, LHO bid 5♦ which passed back to me. Now what? mike777
with 7-4 i would try 4h.....with 7-5...I will try one heart and hope to bid clubs..... I hope this well help, but it may very well still be a guess.

This is a huge disaster if we have a big club fit but it doesn't sound like it lol.

effervesce
4♥. Put the pressure on! After 5♦, pass. You've already made your decision to bid 4♥ - be it for good or bad.

Perhaps they chose the wrong game and belong in spades. Partner didnt preempt with spades; the opps are more likely to have the spades. Fluffy
I also go for 4♥, when opponent bid 5♦ there are 2 alternatives: 5♥ or double, I think I would double.

This all sounds like reasons to bid 1h and put the full court pressure on them......not 4h....which forces them to bid......easy. Again 1h really puts pressure on them.....not 4h.... You list reasons for 1h bid not 4h bid...
sfbp
I'll sign up for 4NT. It's the only bid that clearly defines my hand. If my partner has nothing it may keep them out of a makeable something, if he has something, he now at least can choose a suit for us. I dislike 4♥ because it gives us only one chance to be in the right place. As usual with crazy hands, any plus is good. I like 4NT precisely because it doesn't give them the chance to be in 4♠ at my expense. Looks like that at the table this wasn't an issue. I would rather push them into one too many as a way of getting my plus. What do I know? Ask the oracle, perhaps if I had time. Over to you, Adam. awm
Here is the full hand: [hv=d=n&v=e&n=s9xxxhk9xdkxxcj9x&w=sat8xhxdqjt9xxctx&e=sqjxxhaxda8xxcq8x&s=skhqjt8xxxdcakxxx]399|300|Scoring: MP[/hv] As you can see, 5♦ makes. The opponents can also make 5♠. For our side, 4♥ is cold and 5♥ can be made on best play. The matchpoint scores: -650 or -620 is a tie for bottom-600 is average-minus-100 is average-plusany plus score is a near top Doubling 5♦ really puts the screws to partner. If partner chooses to pull the double you'll get an above average score for sure. But if you swap the pointy aces between opponent hands, you can see that 5♦X will go two down (+500) whereas 5♥ is still quite sketchy. So it's not totally clear what partner's "right call" is without seeing all four hands, nor what partner will do at the table. Blame transfer I guess. :)
han
After 1H LHO will show spades, partner will certainly raise and bidding 5H will be easy. Whether the opponents will let you play there is not as clear. p - 1D - 1H - Dbl2H - 2S - 4H - 4Sp - p - 5H - all pass looks like a fairly normal auction. I wouldn't expect west to find the 5S call. Guest Jlall
How can partner not bid 5H after we X when he has K9x of hearts?
kenrexford
Funny hand. I'd imagine that every so often 4/5♠ will make six. Also, the location of each of the black 7's is unknown, but both black sevens are important, as is conceivably one of the black 6's. Another thing. I'd also imagine that every so often 4♠ will be set, strangely.
skjaeran
If we overcall 4♥ and then double 5♦, it's ridiculous to convert with the actual north hand - 5♥ is plainly obvious!
