helene_t
4.5 adjusted LTC suggests an invite, but LTC is not really adequate if we don't have a fit, and besides p will not be able to make an informed decision because he will assume we have values in diamonds. So pass.
rogerclee
Pass. I might actually make 2♠ after this auction for once in my life.
han
I also pass. This is different from the hand that Phil posted some weeks ago because there we were more likely to have a heart fit and our side suit was much better.
andy_h
I like bidding, so I'm going with 3H :PAs we're NV, I'm also content with pass as well.
Cascade
I also pass. This is different from the hand that Phil posted some weeks ago because there we were more likely to have a heart fit and our side suit was much better. And our second suit was a major so game is more likely in the second denomination. (Assuming I am thinking of the same hand.) Maybe this is what you meant - i am just spelling it out clearly. han
Yes, that was what I meant with "we are more likely to have a heart fit", thanks for clarifying. :)
gwnn
if partner has 9hcp and 2 spades I don't really want to be in game. if partner has 6hcp and 3 spades where will his values be (clubs) and what chances will game have after a trump lead (none) ? let's just try to make this. Codo
1. Partner is maximum2. He has (nearly) no useless values in clubs3. He has a heart doubleton and great values in Diamonds.4. Trumps split 3-2 with both finesses working. Okay, now you don't aim for a slam and for the game you need a little less. But however you see it, you need at leawst two tricks from partner. So KQx of Diamonds and out is enough, but AkQ in club is useless if he has no entry. I think it was no crime to miss this game, but if I have to blame someone then your partner. It is true that he has just 6HCP and 3 card support. But he has a very useful shortness, 5 of his 6 points are very nice, so he was at least on the border to a direct 2 Spade bid. Not 1N. Then Opener can make whatever Game Try System allows for here. I agree with others that this is not a board where I would expect to find game or would feel bad if We did not.
