pbleighton
As far as I know, this system puts all 4333s and 4332s outside of the NT range into 1C, which is forcing. GF hands are still opened 2C, and 1D/1H/1S go up to 21. Can anyone give me the responses to 1C, along with the opener's rebids? If you've played the system, what do you think of it? the hog
Ah Peter, forever on the search for the Holy Grail. When will you find your Joseph of Arimithea? Actually this sounds similar to most of the 2 way C systems, with the exception that in those all 4432 s are also opened 1C if outside the NT range. Gerben47
I'll answer the actual question as people don't want to do that.Responses to 1♣ (from the convention card of the pair Jansma - Verhees) 1♦: 0 - 7 or natural1Major: 8+ at least 4 cards in bid major1 NT: 8 - 10 balanced2♣: 10+ with at least 4♣2♦: 8 - 10 with at least 6♦2 Major: weak jump shift (4 - 7, 6-card)2 NT: 11 - 12 balanced, at least 4♣3♣: 6 - 8, at least 5♣3 other: Invitational with 6-card suit3NT: 13 - 15 balanced Special sequences:1♣ - 1♦ - 1 Major can be 3 cards with 12 - 14 balanced1♣ - 1♦ - 1NT = 18 - 20 balanced1♣ - 1♦ - 2♦: 17 - 21 with 5♣ + 4♦ or 20+ 4441 or 25 - 26 NT1♣ - 1Major - 2♦ = 18 - 20 balanced or 17+ reverse I think it's a sensible system like most 2-way club systems. It solves a lot of problems with those troublesome club hands.
Trpltrbl
I still do play this system, and I still treat it very much as a "normal" 1♣ opening, except that my 1♦ can be 3+. Mike :D

And I have never ever played 1♣, people just can't pass 1♣ no matter what they have in their hand they will come up with bid. GijsH
Interesting discussion about Dutch Doubleton. I played DD for some time (I am Dutch after all :P ), but now I started with AMBRA. If you are looking for the holy grail, this is it, but you must be prepared to study a lot. AMBRA is based on Dutch Doubleton and tought by Benito Garozza to the Italian youth team. Garozzo has managed to solve a lot of problems of DD (and other 2/1 systems) with many artificial relay bids.My partner and I are developing an English version from the Italian original (but we replaced the very complex 1NT system with Ron Klinger's "Keri over 1NT")Drop me an email if you are interested.1C is not absolutely forcing in AMBRA, but in practise we never pass (exept maybe with zero points and a few clubs)
