effervesce
Make the hand 4-4 in the majors = yes if you and partner are playing garbage stayman due to the (off the top of my head) 50% chance of reaching a 4-4 major split. On the hand given? No. Its often better to play with the field than anti-field at MPs.
mikestar
Pass. I would Stayman with the same shape and fewer HCP: 1NT might be a disaster and we should find at least a 7-card fit. With half the deck, the 7 card fit isn't so likely to play better and 1N is unlikely to be hurt badly white. (Red would be a tougher decision at MP: we are trying to avoid -200.) Also passing doesn't convey the impression we are on the run they way a garbage stayman sequence does--so running increases the chance of a double when we can be hurt. skjaeran
Pass. 1NT might easily be our best spot, and only a 2♥ response from partner is really good for stayman. Just envisage playing in a 4-2 diamond fit.
cherdano
This is a nice hand for playing NT.
Guest Jlall
Stayman. I don't mean to offend you if you meant it, but was this serious?
CSGibson
No. I don't see an advantage to being a level higher, as I don't think my doubleton is worth more than a full extra trick.
Yogeshdg
Garbage stayman players will never stayman so we can exclude them from our discussion. Those who dont know/play garbage stayman it is better to pass 1nt. This is nice hand for nt.If you still arent convinced GL playing in a 4-2 ♦ fit at the worst. Cascade
Pass I can afford a few 50s. It will be easier for the opponents to find their fit if we bid Stayman.
whereagles
Obvious pass, so I guess the reason why this was posted is we have a heart fit :)
rogerclee
Okay, I thought it was close, but I am sort of nuts about bidding stayman. The responses to this poll have greatly convinced me not to pull this kind of stuff anymore. It didn't matter a whole lot on the actual hand. Par should've been either 2D= or 1N=. Apollo81
Move a club to diamonds and obv you should Stayman it
dogsbreath
hipass for me .. but why guess? ..your partnership should have a policy of always passing or always stayman on this hand-type, and just live with the result rgds Dog
