TimG
Justin, I was looking for you last night to congratulate you but I guess you were already out partying it up shortly after your match. CONGRATULATIONS! You should have taken advantage of the delay in the new cell phone restrictions and called him. Congrats, Justin. It must be an incredible feeling to beat a team like that. Too bad there wasn't a little more about it in the Bulletin -- the #2 seed, especially this #2 seed, exiting so early is worthy of more coverage. JanM
We'll be showing the closest match from the Vanderbilt Round of 16 this evening, starting at 8 PM Eastern time :) Of course, those of you who are rooting for Justin will now be hoping he's not on Vugraph since that would mean his match was close. AlexOgan
I just logged on to BBO and opened the Allegaert/Meltzer match. Does anybody know what happened on board 18 in the open room? Justin/Kevin ended up in 4H-7 on a 2-2 fit. Maybe North thought 4H was a retransfer to S? Was wondering if I missed any commentary about alternate explanations... Multi auction, something like (2D)-X-(P)-3H; (P)-3N-(P)-4H; all pass. It was indeed a missed re-transfer -- actually missed the transfer, too. Guest Jlall
Thanks everyone for all the support, really disapppointing but it happens. I hope Kevin will keep playing with me since I've never had a partner play as well as he played in that event. Oh, and yes, I misread the multi defense they gave. Obviously that was my fault and thats why we played a 2-2 fit.
jkdood
I know Justin has won national championships, but there will also be many Vandy and Spingold crowns on his mantle before long. His continued excellent effort against one of the best pairs of all time, after a couple mishaps, is quite commendable. Also commendable is his and Kev's success to get to this late round, although disappointing to exit I am sure, is still a veryWD feat!
