1-2(spades and unknown minor)-P-3?

What does 3 show?

When answering this, address what cover card possibilities Advancer might have:

1. Could Advancer have two aces?

2. Could Advancer have two Aces and a stiff?

3. Could Advancer have an Ace, plus a minor King or Queen?

4. Could Advancer have an Ace, plus a minor King and a minor Queen?

5. Should Advancer have four-card support, or is 3-card OK?

6. Could Advancer have an Ace plus a minor KQ in the same suit?

3 is (shd be..) weakish because there's a lot of alternatives with a strong hand.

1. No. You cue with that hand or bid 2NT if you use that as relay.

2, 4, 6. See 1.

3. AQ, maybe. AK.. probably better to cue/relay with that hand.

5. 3 cards and a void. Maybe a stiff on a good day.. lol.

2NT...3 shows an invite, not necessarily 4 spades. You should use this sequence if you want pard to accept on a hand that would just overcall if playing split range Michaels. Bidding 3 directly shows less than that but 4 trumps. With the holdings you mentioned I think you have to guess whether the aces/kings/queens are working or not. With 4 card support and at least 7 HCP in partner's suits I think I'd invite.

What is the difference (I know there is one, but I'm checking) between these sequences as to the six describe hand types? Or, which sequence would you pick with which of these hand types:

1-2-P-3

1-2-P-2NT-P-3minor-P-3

1-2-P-2NT-P-3minor-P-4

1-2-P-3

1-2-P-3

1-2-P-2NT-P-3minor-P-3

1-2-P-2NT-P-3minor-P-4

1-2-P-3

#1 is non-invitational

#2 is invitational

#3 is a hand that would have invited if pard had shown the other minor

#4 (IMO) is GF and creates a force if LHO bids 4

as to the 6 hand types....I dont think you can blindly classify them....depends on the overall hand too

Isn't there also

1-2-P-2NT-P-3minor-P-3

Or is that something else?
