Checkback Stayman question

Recommended Posts

After 1m - (p) - 1M - (p) - 1NT - (p) one should play 2c as invitational and 2d as forcing Stayman according to the Bridge Base Standaed System Notes (Advanced Version)

Could anyone tell me where I can find further information about this convention?

Thanks in advance.

Peter

See Jeff Goldsmith's writeup of Kit Woolsey's original version on the bridge guys site (or Jeff's site).

See Washington Standard (2nd edition), by Steve Robinson for a fairly concise yet complete version with good discussion.

I am not at all sure that "two way new minor forcing" and "two way checkback" are the same thing.

Two way checkback is an integral part of the Romex system, and is discussed quite thoroughly in Bid to Win, Play for Pleasure and Godfrey's Bridge Challenge. Of course, Romex doesn't have a strong NT, so there are some differences in the Romex version of two way checkback to what would be appropriate for a "standard" system. Those are covered in Our Man Godfrey, which also has a lot of other good stuff in it.
