microcap
I just had a rude pair leave after 4 hands in a team match for no reason. I was surprised that the software closed the match [they withdrew, not disconnected.] It seemed unfair to the other 6 players, as I was actively looking for a sub for the first player at the time. Why only 2 players as the limit? thanks JW
Yogeshdg
I think this closing of TMS after two people withdraw should be scrapped. It just leads to bitterness amongst players.
Dwingo
Please increase the limit to
microcap
Thanks for the backup------ sorry to say, as we all know, it doesn't take much to make 2 bridge players mad enough to withdraw from a match. It really isn't fair to the other six.
Elianna
I was just in a team match recently that had two people get disconnected, one of them being the organizer, and the match wasn't cancelled. They were able to come back later (it took something like 2-5 minutes) but it's still rather wierd that you've had TM cancelled, and we didn't have this one cancelled, unless BBO reacted very quickly to your complaint. :)

Elianna
Oh, ok. I guess I was confused, because I thought that it was the same for withdrawal rate from tournaments, but it definitely makes sense for the software to treat it as differently in this instance. inquiry
A little history here... if you are playing in a team match that doesn't finish (say someone disconnects and you never find a sub).... if you log off and come back, you are automatically reseated in the team match... This can be quite frustrating to the players. It is still not that uncommon to find a team match with six or seven red names, and one or two people logging off and comming back on to sit at the table that is never being played. Of course, you can call a yellow, who might be free and can come cancel the match for you, or assign a new "director" (the table host shhould always add a director or two in case he gets disconnected). Uday made a decision that if two players withdraw, there must be a problem and the match ends. It could be made some other number, but pleasee don't do away with the idea rather it is 2 or 3 or 4. There has to be some escape method that doesn't require help from yellows...

Yes i do understand the reason for the 2 person limit but it is being abused to close Tms early because someone is mad at someone. Think BBO should track no. of withdrawals made by each person and take approriate action. After all you cant always be having a problem. Another solution might be to let any player sub a disconnected (not someone who is playing!)player after a predetermined time. Wonder if any of this is possible. barmar
If the goal is just to keep these unfinished matches from hanging around in the list forever, maybe you should use a time limit. If a match goes for more than N minutes without 8 players seated, it gets cancelled.
microcap
Ben, thanks. I have no complaint with just upping the number to 3 or 4 which I assume is easy to change. If you think about it, 2 just allows one pair that is having a bad match to just blow everyone up--and we all know it happens too often. Also, it was my impression that the option to withdraw was created for the disconnect and reseat issue that you raised. So if you keep getting reseated, why can't you just click on a director call and just withdraw?

Any player can press the "call director" button and use the option there to find a sub for their disconnected parnter. Few seem to know this. It is very long, however, to allow things like 28 board matches.

It is very long, however, to allow things like 28 board matches. I've been meaning to ask about that. When I kibitz team games with BBOFlash, it shows a time limit in the bottom left. Is this what that is?
uday
It probably wont show the time limit in the next flash version but .. A team game is timed in a sense, like any clocked tourney ( just to make sure that an unattended team game eventually closes down ). the tourney gets something like 10 mins per board (maybe 15) times number of boards .
