whereagles
I'll throw a fake 4♥ cue and then look at LHO's face. If he looks outraged, follow-up with 4♠. Else 6.
matmat
5c/5d seem like options. at the table i'd probably 5d, but 5c has something going for it as it may focus p's attention on the hearts.
Apollo81
I'd tend to pass. I presume I have not agreed whether pass or 4♠ is the stronger action in sequences like this (or if a cuebid gets doubled etc). If I have an agreement about that then I'll use whichever option is stronger. It's helpful IMO to have pass be the stronger action.
paulg
I'd pass in the hope of hearing a heart bid from partner. We are in a auction forcing to 4♠, so I would play 'fast arrival' in the sense that 4♠ is the weakest call I can make. Paul
pclayton
Pass. I'm happy if pard cues 4♥, key cards, or whatever. This is an awkward hand and it would be tough to describe even if RHO didn't jam us.
Guest Jlall
I usually play bidding shows shortness in their suit, so I'd bid 4S. Since there's no standard agreements after itervention of jacoby 2N, I guess pass is stronger than 4S, so 'd pass.
Cascade
I'll throw a fake 4♥ cue and then look at LHO's face. If he looks outraged, follow-up with 4♠. Else 6. At the risk of hijacking another thread ... this tactic is specifically disallowed in the laws. Law 74C5 reads "The following are examples of violations of procedure: ...5. looking intently at any other player during the auction and play, or at another player’s hand as for the purpose of seeing his cards or of observing the place from which he draws a card (but it is appropriate to act on information acquired by unintentionally seeing an opponent’s card*)." The position of the comma after 'auction and play' indicates that 'looking intently at another player' is an infraction without 'the purpose of seeing his cards' etc which only applies to looking at the 'player's hand'. Echognome
[hv=d=s&v=n&n=sa9xxhkjxxxdjxckx&w=sk2hatxxxdxcxxxxx&e=shxdakqtxxxxxxcxx&s=sqjt87xxhqxdcaqjx]399|300|Scoring: MP1♠ - (P) - 2NT - (4♦)6♠ - (Dbl) - AP[/hv] I'm actually unsure if RHO was 0=1=9=3 or 0=1=10=2. I just know he had a bucket of diamonds. Was interesting in the play as LHO lead the ♥A (I dropped the Q) and shifted. If he had played another ♥ and RHO had shown out, that would have given the ballgame away. That being said, I just based it off the double and lead a small ♠ intending to finesse, but LHO kindly popped K. He said afterwards "Sorry. I was hoping the ♠A was on my right." I certainly thought I was dead to rights when he doubled. I agree with the rest of you that Pass seems the most prudent on the hand. If you can fetch a ♥ cue out of partner that is golden.
