kfay
I voted for 2♦ and personally I wouldn't make any other bid but I wouldn't mind if my partner bid 2♥. They've got a stiff, all the spots, and aces in the other two suits. But like I said, it's not my call.
kfay
The young player at the table bid 2NT, a highly optimistic view in the system they were playing. This did not go well when partner tabled ♠ xx♥ xx♦ Jxxxxx♣ KJx I thought 2♦ was clear but I could see the problem that the player struggled with. Like one of MickyB's problems, he held a hand that could make a lot of tricks opposite the right cards but [our] experience suggests that starting slow is the best chance of finding this out. Paul He didn't even have a 1NT bid. I agree that 2D is clear - clearly wrong! I disagree, this is an obvious 1NT to me. I'm happy if partner bids anything but 2♠. Here he SHOULD bid 2♦ and... now 1NT has been upgraded to 'genius'
benlessard
in which part of the world does 2 ♥ keep game in the picture after a non forcing 1 NT bid? Not where I live. You mean that you always pass 2H ? 1H---1Nt2H---2Nt 1H---1Nt2H---2S 1H---1Nt2H----3H These dont exist in your system ? Im not saying that i expect to reach game often, but my chances are surely better then those who passed 1Nt.
P_Marlowe
Pass, but I can live with 2H. With kind regardsMarlowe

Paul How about Pass instead of 1NT? One of the adv. of playing 1 NT as forcing is,that you are able to reach 2D with this kindof hand, but if you dont play it, pass.
