pholly
What do members think the meaning of responder's jump is in this sequence: 1S - 2C; 2H - 4D I thought it cued diamonds agreeing hearts; partner thought it was a second suit. Thoughts anyone?
gwnn
splinter in support of hearts. like a 2416 or so.
han
Splinter, a typical hand could be Q10xx Kxx x AQJxx. Edit: I thought the auction was 1H-2C-2H-4D. Still a splinter though, what Csaba said.
finally17
Third the current vote. Splinter
Impact
For me it must agree H, with the only issue being whether it is a splinter or a cue (and that depends on strength of 2-over-1, style of 4SF etc). Since 3D is forcing (in fact 4sf), a jump should agree partner's last bid suit (and if you hold the massive 2-suiter in minors with slam ambition/force you just have to bid 4sf and then rebid 4D: at least 5-6 with slam interest...) regards

Thoughts anyone? This is, in my opinion, a rather muddy area of bidding. Without discussion I'd take it as splinter in support of hearts.. unless I happen to have a singleton diam or so, that is:)
kenrexford
For me: If 2♣ was not GF, a splinter in support of hearts. If 2♣ was GF, a picture splinter in support of hearts. The former is a general strength bid with a stiff. The latter is more specialized, meaning no Ace or King of spades, two of the top three hearts, a stiff diamond, and three of the top four clubs. Something like ♠xx ♥KQxx ♦x ♣AQJxxx works.
