helene_t
Youi switched ♦ because p seemed to be echoing in ♦, right? Not sure why p played ♦ in that order but it seems impossible that he could afford to discard two diamonds if he really wanted that suit. hotShot
You can locate 10+♣ cards (south 3+, you 3, north 4+) and 8♠ this means that your partner can't have much black cards. So he must have some red ones.Your partner had the opportunity to make a bid over 1♦, but he chose to be silent. So his shape or strength does not allow a 1♥ bid. If he really wanted a ♥ lead, his hand would have often been suitable for a 1♥ bid.It is south who chose to bid 3NT and he should be pretty sure to stop the unbid suit.So leading the ♥ carries the risk of playing the finesse for south. But what could you lead?♠ and ♣ seem to be bad choices too, and your hand definitely does not call for a ♦ lead.Seems that the ♥ lead is still the best choice to make. You just have to follow up ♥ after you win the ♣Q. sceptic
You just have to follow up ♥ after you win the ♣Q. My pard said I made a bad lead, I should lead a spade then he can switch to hearts. I thought maybe I could lead the 4 hearts that way he would not assume I had the J hearts which is what his problem is also he signalled for diamonds 0/e
jtfanclub
also he signalled for diamonds 0/e He signalled count on the first discard? I've never seen that before.
Winstonm
As long as the 2 wasn't from J1092 (impossible) or from Jxx (rare), there is no problem. As long as the simple assumption is made that partner has led from a 4-card heart suit, there is no valid reason not to plunk down the K - when the J falls from declarer any necessary unblock becomes routine. If partner happened to lead from 10942, it is automatic to play the 10 or 9 when declarer follows with the J. Blame falls squarely on East. Note also that East, seeing you win the club Q, knows that hearts are the winning play for 4 more tricks and a guaranteed defeat and can be heroic and simply discard the diamond King on the club Queen. This play should be enough to get you to cash the heart J if you have led from Jxx or else continue hearts if you led from xxxx. It does however, look foolish if you have led from xxx of hearts. gwnn
You make a killing lead and then partner blames you? That's the newest, most unbelievable cover-up attempt in the history of partnership defense.
Winstonm
You make a killing lead and then partner blames you? That's the newest, most unbelievable cover-up attempt in the history of partnership defense. Obviously, they were playing blame transfers. Hearts mean spades were right and partner is to blame. skjaeran
I don't get this - leading the ♥5 back from east is totally nuts IMO. Blame east 200%.
