finally17
It aint broke, dont fix it. What do these players wanting undo's do with cards misplayed at the club? its a lot easier to misclick on a computer than it is to misplay at a table. for instance, i switch to another window...normally i switch back with alt-tab, but sometimes i use my mouse, and some people exclusively do so. if i accidentally click on the pass button when switching back, it passes for me...nothing i can do about it. Yes there is! Dont surf if you are playing. :P I think the problem is that it is a lot easier to get distracted and multi task while playing online rather than it is easy to misclick. There are plenty of things one could be doing on one's computer, even as simple as changing music, that aren't surfing. And there are large large %ages of bbo users that you'll never convince to "not surf while playing." Nor should you be able to. If there were some enforceable regulation that read "don't let your multi-tasking include BBO," I'd quit playing in a heartbeat. Furthermore, there are plenty of other reasons people misclick... touchpads, slips of the hand right when clicking...that was just one example. jillybean
Im not for one minute suggesting people don’t surf or change music or otherwise multi task while playing on BBO but neither am I convinced that inattention is a valid reason to ask for an undo. Pay attention or just accept you will make mistakes.Obviously, we are talking about tournament play and not a game with friends and furthermore I am specifically talking about undo’s in play, bidding mistakes are an entirely different matter. :P Thats my position on it, others are of course free to do what they like. I don't ask for undos generally, unless it was a clear and obvious misclick and I feel it will affect the hand dramatically. Other people do. I'm just inclined to give them so leeway, which apparently you aren't. Anyway, usually if I switch windows I'm dummy. And should I quit playing because I get a phone call or someone walks into the room and asks a question? Again, WHATEVER. It's online bridge, and for me always in the MBC, sometimes a team match. So I'm not committing my full attention to the hand all of the time...Anyone who claims they are is lying.
calabres
Hi folks I am very happy with all comments and suggestions above. But be sure, in all my tournaments a will always ALLOW UNDOS. Reason? I can give you lots, but you all know them. JUST A JOKE:  Other day I was playing in a tournament where Undos not allowed. I always play carefully, use good mouse and never surfing in the net while playing.But......my God......instead of PASS, my cat walk over the keyboard and a DBL appears, followed by a propper RDBL. Of course the Tournament was ruined, a desappointed partner cause contract made RDBLed with an overtrick. JUST A QUESTION:  Must all people play online closed in a room? No kids, no pets, no wife......just like in a JAIL. I will never close myself :D
Foxx
This proposal just matches the Vista paradigm. You click on a card. A pop-up asks "Are you sure you want to play this card? To continue click Play" with buttons "Play", "Cancel", and "Quit Bridge". Using the ideas of the full disclosure cc, some pop-ups might be: 1) "Are you sure you want to play this card, as it gives a ruff-n-sluff? To continue click Ouch" with buttons "Ouch", "Escape", and "Pay $1 for GIB to play my hand". 2) "Are you sure you want to play this card, as another card will set the contract? To continue click no-set" with buttons "No Set", "Set the Contract", and "Play card and say lol" 3) "Are you sure you want to play this card, as it does not match your carding agreements. To continue click Confuse Partner" with buttons "Confuse Partner", "Wait another card before confusing partner", and "Pay $10 for online version of Lawrence book" POST of the DAY!!!!!!! LMAO!!!
