helene_t
QTxxxx xx - AKJxx Matchpoints, game all.LHO dealer i.e. p opens in 2nd seat. Partner opens 1♥ and rebids 2♦ over your 1♠. P generally opens o.t.b.o. rule of 20.
Guest Jlall
I just go low with 2S, this hand doesn't fit well.
rogerclee
3♠. Maybe experience will teach me not to overbid these hands, but I'm 6-5 with reasonableish suits.
pclayton
2♠. I really don't consider it much of an underbid.
helene_t
Tx, yes 2♠ would have been the winning bid. I thought my hand was too strong for that and bid 3♣, obviously an overbid but I thought I would at least reach the right strain that way. P bid his hearts with his 2551 11-count, which I raised to 4♥, so we got both the strain and the level wrong. Good hand for WJS, I would have no problems bidding 2♠ it it showed some 8-10 HCPs. But I guess I should have bid 2♠ anyway.
jtfanclub
Another one I'm going to have to rethink. I would have said 2♥, and not even realized this might be an underbid. I know, I'd normally bid 2♠, but, well, ew. Partner can't have 3 spades, and I don't give great odds that he even has two. If partner bids 4♥, I doubt he'll be upset with my hand, and if he was planning to pass anything I said, in this case, I'll take the 5-2 over the 6-1. Funny thing is, I just asked one of my regular partners the question (no hints), and he'd do it too. So maybe it's not all that out there. Guest Jlall
as far as 2S vs 2H, you may have a 6-2 spade fit and partner may have a hand that can raise 2S to 3 but would pass 2H. For instance Kx AKxxx KQxx xx will raise 3S routinely but would pass 2H. If you are going to get to game 2S is the way to go.
jchiu
I'm going to vote for lemurs, even though that is NOT Ken Rexford's favourite primate. However, if forced to make a legal bridge call, I will 2♥ to schwing :P
kgr
I know, I'd normally bid 2♠, but, well, ew. Partner can't have 3 spades, and I don't give great odds that he even has two. What should he bid with e.g:KxxAKJxxKQxxx
cherdano
I know, I'd normally bid 2♠, but, well, ew. Partner can't have 3 spades, and I don't give great odds that he even has two. What should he bid with e.g:KxxAKJxxKQxxx That is true but this hand is somewhat irrelevant, we get to game in spades no matter which bid we choose. jdonn
I admit it's a tough problem, but 2♥ is really weird. I bid 3♠. I don't hate 2♠, but anything else is strange at best.
skjaeran
I'd rebid 2♠, the alternative being 2♥. Anything more is an overbid IMO. You're allowed to have a maximum on occasion.
P_Marlowe
I already stated in the other thread, that I dont like 2S, ... unless playing WJS.For me, it is either 3C or 3S, most likely 3S, maybe the influence of my partner grews, he would force to game with 3C, and his comment would be "WTP?", ... but he is sitting oppossite one of my openers .-). Playing SA instead of Acol, the warning signs are there, but you have some add. outs, ... opener may bid 2D witha strong NT type hand, playing Acol you know he is 54. With kind regardsMarlowe
