Cave_Draco
A search engine for the Forum? I was looking for information regarding the Convention Card, it seems to be a legacy thing? I found the string, but not very helpful with regard to filling it out, :). Introduce a difference between alert & announce? I alert a 12-14NT but all NT ranges should be announced. Just general comments.
inquiry
It is my opinion that it is technically correct to "alert" your NT range (whatever it is) everytime you open 1NT against new opponents. Of playing against people you usually play with or against, or the tenth time you do it against the same new pair, it probably gets very old. The BBO convention card is very easy to fill out. Go to a table (you can kibitiz or open an invisible one if you like) and click on CONV on the bottom icon bar. When the card open, just start filling it out. When you see the boxes with little dots in them, just click on those boxes and it opens a new menu, where you can put in additional information. For instance, if you play Bergen, you can click the box to the right of 1H and enter next to 3H = semipremptive raise, and next to 3C and 3D whatever range you play for these limit raise jumps, and next to 1NT forcing, and next to 2NT Jacoby (if that is what you play)... There are many, many places where you can pop these open. After you enter what you want, you can then choose the "save" button and save it to your hard drive. So you can fill out dozens of convention cards if you like. You can also share your convention card with people by posting it to the table, they can then save that convention card if they want (or you can grab convention cards used by others). I hope this helps. I would like to see more convention card use in the BBO, but doubt it will ever become real popular.
uday
There is a Search button at the top of the screen that claims to search the forum. I havent tested it fully, but basic searches seem to work.
Cave_Draco
I tried the search engine, practice makes perfect, I looked for IM then messages, :). A comment about "Hey, Cave_Draco, you have 1 message." would it be feasible to change that to "Hey, Cave_Draco, you have 1 new message." when appropriate? Cave_Draco
Another little one... lol. I just changed Netsounds/WAITING, the clock... could we have a delayed repeat instead of a continuous repeat? Otherwise I have to find a .wav of the appropriate length, :). Cave_Draco
I notice that the clock is wrong... 21:23 here; 9:42pm at BB?
inquiry
I notice that the clock is wrong... 21:23 here; 9:42pm at BB?You can adjust the hour part of the time. To do this, click on profile in the green bar a tthe top of the screen. Go down and add or subtract hours until it is right where you are.... The minutes just seems to be off. Cave_Draco
The hours are ok; it's the minutes/seconds that count; enjoy every second ye mortals, lol.
Cave_Draco
Another couple of points... 1. The clocks in the UK changed from GMT to BST; I changed the offset manually, :D. 2. I play Astro but it applies to other conventions... I alert & when questioned, reply something like "H & minor"; at least I type "H & minor" in the alert enquiry box. What appears is "H _ minor"! What do I have to type to get an ampersand?
Cave_Draco
I was going to suggest linking BBO profiles to BB Forums profiles... However, at BBO I have no _, I had to go to my corner shop... Ooops, keyboard, to get one for BB Forums, :D.
Cave_Draco
A couple of things... I Kib NESW only; I still get to see all four hands until someone bids. You cannot load a Convention Card until you actually start playing? ;D
uday
I am pretty sure you can post a CC - via one of the big buttons inside the tourney - once you register.
Cave_Draco
I am pretty sure you can post a CC - via one of the big buttons inside the tourney - once you register. I wasn't talking about tourneys, ;D. I log in to BB, click on Conv, select a CC &... then I cannot "use" until I sit at a table! It would be nice to "pin it on my lapel", if Dragons had such things, lol.
