Which bid clues partner to slam with HK+DAK, A+A+K, SA+DKQ, etc?

I think only 1C with jump club rebid.

5C misinforms partner that he needs 3xA to try slam. But not bad to gamble he has 'wrong' stuff.

I never preempt when partner's expected 2 tricks sets 4M.

Hope auction goes 1C <X,OC> 'stuff' <2OC> now 4C by me clues partner well.

Hope not 1C <X,OC> pass =nothing <4M> now 5C is unilateral, but my best guess.

I'd preempt

This is IMPs. Finding a NT contract isn't the be all and end all of the auction. Furthermore, you have a good 8 card suit. You have a stiff spades. Why give the opponents room to find their fit?

The fact that this is the start of a long team match makes this all the more attractive.

Well seeing that nice 10 count pd can't resist forcing to game, and he shouldn't.

1 misdescribes the defensive potential of the hand. 2, which will never be passed out, followed by some sort of jump rebid, is surely more accurate.

It only says 14+ because that's what the system says, in reality if you have a hand worth 14, who cares about the HCP?

Our card btw says 14+ (good 12-13) btw, and a warning that we are not bean counters.

Well you do not specify how many controls or QT or defensive tricks you imply.

Again you and partner may know, but no one else does. :)

You might have 14 hcp and zero defense? 12-13 hcp and zero defense or something close?

We are all not WC players.

this just goes back to the issue of full disclosure. You cannot put everything on the cc but more, much more information is needed. :)

When we all play this system we will not need to ask these basic questions :)

It's hard to choose between 1 and 5 imo. 2 is ridiculous, you have a hand with lots of playing strength and lots of tricks when come in. 4,5 losers is just too few to open a NF 2.

However I wouldn't bid 4 over NMF... 3NT is probably our best spot, so stay low.

If I open 5, neither I nor my partner will know what to do over 5.

If I open 1, partner will double 4 when it's wrong, and I won't leave it in when it's right.

If I open 2, then jump in clubs, my partner will make the right decision.

I think this is one of the more obvious 2 bids I've seen. If asked to describe:

2 P 2 P

4

I'd probably use this hand as an example.

I can't imagine this getting passed out.

We had a similar hand last night - it was also the first board

[hv=d=s&v=n&s=sxxhkdxxcakqjxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv]

and I can report that 5 was wrong. I am more inclined to open this sort of hand 1 it has a decent number of hcp and the solid hearts mean that 3NT for example is not out of the question opposite not too much.

We don't play Fantunes but your hand looks somewhere between 1 and 2 to me. This of course depends on what you expect for 5 we play these as pretty decent hands - I've had too many bad results in 5minor to give up an expected minus when I am not sure anyone can make anything.

Your hand with two Aces seems ok defensively for 1 to me and in my opinion is about the equivalent of 14+.

I don't know either, I just know it when I see it! I have never used QT as an evaluation tool, except for deciding if I dbl opponents or not.
