Look at the tiles within the yellow and blue squares in the middle of the page. Even though I know (I checked in PhotoShop) that the "blue" tiles on the left are the same (greyish) color as the "yellow" tiles on the right, I can't make my eyes see them as the same. We see dark when the luminance is low given the information we have about light sources, shade effects, and luminance of nearby object with known "real" color. It is quite difficult to reproduce our color vision artificially, for example to make a fruit picking robot that can see if an orange is green or, well, orange.
