sceptic
Yours truly played this and screwed up big time, can you spot what I did wrong :) apart from not playing in spades [hv=d=s&v=a&n=saqj6532hj3dkj2c7&w=s87hk4dq8653cqt62&e=sk94hqt9dt97cj954&s=stha87652da4cak83]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] West North East South - - - 1♥ Pass 1♠ Pass 2♥ Pass 3♠ Pass 3NT Pass Pass Pass D3 DJ D7 D4 C7 C4 CA C2 ST S7 SQ S4 SA S9 C3 S8 S2 SK H2 D5 C5 C8 CT S3 CQ S5 C9 CK DA D6 D2 D9 H5 HK H3 H9 C6 S6 CJ H6 HQ HA H4 HJ H7 D8 SJ HT DT H8 DQ DK [/font]
rona_
You have no entry to the board after you set up spades. Play a small diamond to your ace on the first trick. Not advanced or expert :P
firmit
This is a classic error beginners and many intermediates do and maybe some advanced folks too :P I am trying to convince my just-learned-bridge-friend to plan the play - it ain't easy! ADDED:Just posted this - and as I was kibitzing a friend - the hand just came up! What a coincidence! They found 6♠ though :( ( your partner was mrdodgy! )
helene_t
You can still make it after having won the ♦J, I think. Set up the hearts instead of the spades. On a good day spade split 4-1 so the experts go down and you make it.
sceptic
I played to quick never bothered to plan as I saw it was easy to make (my usual story) just shows what a fool you can make of yourself, but I thought others can have a chuckle and it may help someone somewhere
