Gerben42
I always seem to get them wrong... And of course that costs quite some points! [hv=d=w&v=e&s=st7h42dat952ct976]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Starting on your left you hear: 1♦ - 1♥1♠ - 2♣3♥ - 4NT5♥ - 6♥ Your lead? And why? Guest Jlall
I would lead the ace of diamonds. If partner has a stiff we can set them immediately, and LHO's bidding marks him with 4351 so there is a good chance of finding partner with a stiff. As for the other options, I don't like a trump lead and don't think this is the time to be passive. They powered into slam and think that though it will cut down on ruffs it's just too likely that the lost tempo will hurt too much. A spade lead trying to set up the king before declarers spades go on the diamond would be possible, but is a narrower target than the DA imo. A club is just hopeless. Finch
I think it's very close between a spade and the ace of diamonds.I would lead a spade, the DA seems horribly committal.

Halo
Ace of diamonds. Confident slam bidding with one ace, it seems. If he doesn't have good clubs and fitting spades, I've misjudged. Otherwise this is our only chance.
655321
♦A If we had the ♠K we could lead a spade to try to set up a ♠ trick. But we don't, so leading a ♠ in the hope that partner has a trick that can be developed is optimistic - yes, it might work, but partner might not have a spade card.Underleading the ♦A is just random, and is something I would never do on this auction. So I lead our best suit, and either give partner a ruff, or hope that there is another trick to come.
jdonn
I would lead ace of diamond, I think there is a lot to be said for taking the most direct route to a set when it seems as likely to work as any other. Also saving an imp when nothing sets them is another tiebreaker.
mikeh
I join the chorus of A♦ lead, and this from someone who normally doesn't lead Aces against slams

Gerben42
Thanks all, turned out that only ♦A and another (partner ruffs) was the only way to set it. I don't really like leading Aces against slam because this usually catches a: "claim, that's all you get" from declarer, so I didn't lead one this time. :)
