rbforster
North opens and opponents are silent. [hv=d=n&n=saqhakj83d96ck983&s=skj954hq2dj7543c6]133|200|[/hv] What's your auction? (Fancy stuff is ok too)Where would you like to be if you could pick?
NickToll
1♥ - 1♠2♣ - 2♥3♦ - 4♦4♠ 3♦: game try, suggests 5422 and no clear direction4♦: ok, let's play game, pick a major, suggests decent spades4♠: maybe the long suit of the weak hand has a better chance to succeed
rogerclee
3N by N seems good against human opponents. My auction: 1♥-1♠2♣-2♥ 2♣ = Gazilli, natural or 17+ art2♥ = 5-7HCP, usually 2♥ So I don't get to this one.
Gerben42
Standard or what I really play? Standard: 1♥ - 1♠2♣ - 2♥... Now North wants to invite without stopper in ♦ and there isn't really a bid for that, so I guess I would probably pass at MP or NV at IMPs. When vuln. at IMPs this is a tough problem. Your choice is basically to overbid 3♦. System with regular pd 1♥ - 1NT*2♣** - 2♦***2♥§ - Pass * 5+♠** Gazilli*** 6+ any§ 13 - 17 with ♥ and ♣ 4 of a major looks like a good bet but kudos if you get there with 24 HCP and no fit! Finch
My auction would start the obvious way - 1H - 1S2C - 2H North now has a very difficult call. One possibility is 2S, showing a 3514 with extra values which would work fine as responder will bid 4S. THe other possibility is a 4th suit 3D, over which responder will most likely bid 4H, which is a little worse.
whereagles
[hv=d=n&n=saqhakj83d96ck983&s=skj954hq2dj7543c6]133|200|[/hv]What's your auction? (Fancy stuff is ok too) 1♥ 1♠2♣ 2♥2NT pass 2NT = natural, good 15 to 17 nothing fancy needed :)
Fluffy
1♥-1NT (spades)2♣-2♥2NT-pass last pass is not so clear, but the intermediates aren't good for a move.

Guest Jlall
I think I would bid 1H-1S-2C-2H-2S-4S. Obviously openers 3rd bid is the key to the hand.
rbforster
So which do people think is the best contract? Obviously they're all better from North, but 4H or 4S or 3N? I think I liked 3N best, but 4H slightly better than 4S.
Fluffy
4♠ is the best contract.
P_Marlowe
Hi, 1H - 1S2C - 2HPass If North wants to bid on, than 2NT it is. 2S by North is not an option, this should show 3 card support, i.e. a 5431 shape.2S is only an option, if South showed 5+,say you play Kalplan Inversion, in whichcase 2S would be a great bid.But even than, if South knows, that he facesonly 2 card support he may pass 2S. With kind regardsMarlowe
han
I agree that opener's third bid is the key, and I think it is clearly not a pass. I'm honestly not sure what I would have bid.
Apollo81
I would either bid 2♠ or 3♥ as North at the third call -- where the values are.
skjaeran
Tough problem. 2♠ would be my 3rd bid with the north hand after the obvious first four bids in the auction.
mike777
emailed bid it. 1H=1S2C=2H3H=4H TOUGH HAND.
