mike777
Canape means that you are allowed to have a longer minor than a major. Opening one major promises a 5-card suit with a possibility of a longer minor. The opening bid doesnt promise another suit, but you might have it. Is there really a system that makes 1M a two suited opening? 2M as major + minor actually shows two suits, not as possibility (you could also just decide to open 2M as weak 2 on 5-5) but as a guarantee. I think there is a clear difference. YES See Bridge Encyclopedia "Simple Club" 1D or 1H or 1S openings promise two suits at least 5-4 100%. Canape openings at one level very often but not 100% but always two suits. :) Yes that means you can open one major with only 4 cards in major and longer minor or other major suit, very often. :) Been around long time, I played it more than 20years ago. :)
