ArtK78
Wouldn't partner double 2♥ if he had a strong NT opening? In any case, I pass. I have nothing to bid.

In my experience with weak NT, x'ing on any 15-17 balanced here is insane. In fact, passing here is generally a system gain when you're red, since you avoid going down in 1NT like the rest of the field. Anyway, it sounds like RHO overcalled on cheese, doesn't have hearts, and is afraid of this getting too high. I think partner is 15-17 balanced, so I will saw this off. I like to play that my double here is cooperative; that is, my double is penalty contingent on whether partner has a strong NT. If he's weak with 6 clubs, he should run. the hog
Do I read this correctly? Wasn't 2H forcing? Well, I have nothing to add to anything - pass.
Guest Jlall
Pass. Roger doesn't X sound like a trap pass of spades with some hearts? When you pass 1S you will usually either have A ) A trap passB ) a weak hand. So conventional wisdom is that passing then doubling ANYTHING is penalty. I realize theres actually a small C) marginal hands like 7-8 with no bid. I think these hands need to be passing as well in this situation. Well, I do have some spades... :) I think pass has a lot of merit, but I'll stick to my guns and say I prefer double. Even if partner has a 12-count, it is far from clear that they are making this. I also admit that part of my double is that I hate it when opponents try stuff like this. Edit: Reconsidering, if partner is 12-14, he is unbalanced. If he has a stiff spade, the opponents have an 8-card spade fit, which seems unlikely (but possible); LHO has a limit raise available, and RHO would rebid 2S on any 6-card suit rather than pass. A stiff heart would give the opps a 9-card heart fit, which would have to be 7-2, since RHO would raise with 3 cards, also unlikely. If partner has a stiff diamond, the defense is starting with AK ruff for a likely set. So all in all, double seems at least reasonably safe even if partner is not pulling with 12-14 unbalanced. skjaeran
I'm passing here - easily. Nothing intelligent alternative.A double would show a penalty pass of 1♠ with something in hearts too.RHO obviously made a very light overcall, and is afraid of getting overboard. They probably have if I pass this. Of cource we might have a ♦ partial, but we can often score more defending 2♥ undoubled.
pclayton
I generally find when my opponents do something unusual that they've geniused themselves or they have arrived at a totally normal contract.
whereagles
I wouldn't be in this position because I would have bid 1NT the round before B)
Fluffy
I also think that passing the round before was far from clear, but having raached this position it is better to let it go.
helene_t
Not sure how a double here is going to help us. P may bid 2♠ as a suggestion to play, assuming I must have 5+ spades for my double. Not a happy perspective. Defending 2♥ looks ok.
gwnn
So I passed and we beat 2♥ exactly once. Decent defense would have got 7 tricks. I open the scoresheet and I write the glorious number of +50 under the ocean of +660's and +600's. Almost nobody lead a heart from ♠KQxxx and out. Partner had AJT Ax Qxx AQT9x. diamonds 3-3 ♣KJ onside etc. The field bid it, the field made it.
