Guest Jlall
Ok, nm first it was 5S p p. I would still double over 4S p p, this hand has too much defense to bid 4N, and also too much playability in clubs. I expect to beat them when partner passes, and if he happens to find a bid I will be very happy. I think 4N will turn a plus into a minus very often. Just because we are 5-5 doesn't mean we have to turn a plus into a minus. Change my suits around and I'd 4N.
Apollo81
Double for sure. I have too much D and O to pass, and this looks a lot more like a three suited hand than a two suited hand.
whereagles
Joining the dbl bandwagon.

skjaeran
Double is the most flexible call, and it presents the best chance for a plus score and describes the handtype well.
cherdano
A clear double for me.
Fluffy
Yeah double, with singleton spade and ♣AQ I would bid 4NT.
han
I doubled, partner had a normal pass (KJx of spades and a flat hand) and 4SX made. Thanks all.
whereagles
It made? That's hard to believe, but ok ^^
han
Here is the hand: [hv=d=s&v=e&n=sa94h109dkqj1095cj7&w=skj7hq543d84c9843&e=shaj876da7632caq5&s=sq1086532hk2dck1062]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] I was east.
gnasher
That's just unlucky. Looking at the East-West hands, it's obviously preferable to defend 4S rather than play 5H.
Codo
3 from 3 critical honours (Spade ace, Heart and club King) are well placed for them and game just makes. Did pd complaint about the double? He is a whimp.Or did he prefer 5 Heart with your hand? He is crazy.
