Homebase Tournaments Are Returning

Recommended Posts

HomeBase Tournaments are about to start up again after a year hiatus. This time there are a few differences.

  • Good news, we will offer competitive BB$ prizes for all of our events
  • Bad News, we no longer will allow kibitzers (this is contrary to our view that bridge is social game and kibitzers are an important component of that. Sadly, with cash prizes, we see no other reasonable option
  • We will continue to post html version of the results with full traveller with deep finesse calculated makable contracts, etc. See the following example for one tournament I played in HTML with makable contracts
  • We will continue to offer you the option to have your results (with makable contracts) and the tournament results emailed to you automatically after each event. This can be in html format, as a link to a webpage with the html, or in plain text.. your choice.
  • We will continue to offer absolutely free access to HomeBase BridgeBrowser to our participants. Homebase bridgebrowser is a fully functional version of the online version of bridgebrowser, except it is limited to hands played in homebase events.
  • Weekly and monthly leaders in our events will gain access for various periods of time to the full version of bridgebrowser (well over 220,000,000 hands of bridge), and its use on such things as vugraph hands and to nearly any hand ever played on BridgeBase online in the main room or in any of the non-robot tournaments
  • Newsletters and the like will continue which highlight winners of our events.
  • WBF rules apply to our events, so things like multi 2 etc are fully acceptable. Alerts of course are necessary.

If you find your self looking for a tournament to play in, I hope you will consider playing in one of homebase's.

Not interested in free bridgebrowser access? Check out this initial demo video that shows the basic features of bridgebrowser. You maybe surprised by what this amazing program can do, and this is less than 5% of its features. Watch the homebase sites for more videos demonstrating the power and usefulness of this program.

I am pleased these are back, hope you have a lot of sucess this time, it is nice to see someone doing something different .... hope you get a decent TD to do at least one at a good time for the Europeans

You volunteering? :D We still need a few more.

Problem with the software i used is that it creates an unusually large flash for the amount of time. This is related to the fact that i wasn't able to reduce the size of the image and still have the text readable. Still looking for a better option. What i want is a series of short videos. For example, the bid analysis tab requires quite a while to explain. I am working on a FANTUNES example using 1300 or so hands by to explain how to use the bid-analysis tab... the plotting routines, and the statistical packages. That will probably be the next video.

YAY!

Gee, I'd like to volunteer as a TD but I'd hate to miss out on playing. Decisions, decisions.

Good luck

Thanks Richard.

BTW, I just posted an updated version of the bidding analysis demo video. To make it more interesting, I did the demonstration using FANTUNES hands to briefly illustrate the type of data/hands you can explore quickly using BrBr.

(note, the free homebase bridgebrowser program does not contain any Fantunes hands, but the vugraph hand records and team game play in the full version, or course does).
