ArtK78
2♥. Pass is unreasonable. Opposite as little as: Axxx T9x xxxx Ax you are cold for 5♦. Opposite as little as: AQxx Txx xxx QJx or KQTx xxx xxx QJx you have a lot of play for 3NT.

matmat
pass. can i go back and bid 1nt instead of 2c?
jdonn
Pass. Opposite as little as KQ of spades and a doubleton diamond we are already too high. Opposite as little as: Axxx T9x xxxx Ax you are cold for 5♦.I wish my partners always had so little. I hope next time my partner has four card support, two aces, the perfect doubleton, and even his T9 working that the opponents find the ruff they are over 50% to have available. dake50
Assuming 2D was inv+ S-raise I go 2S =inv C-raise. One cue begets another.
Guest Jlall
pass, lol@ the examples of "as little as"
Fluffy
2♣ was natural right? we didn't reverse because we weren't strong enough.... So then we aren't strong enough to bid 2♥.

Ugg...really tough hand for me. Partner could have 10-11 flat hcp for 2d or nothing. I guess a max 2d with no spots could be: Axxx...Kxx...xxx....Axx or if this is too much a tiny bit less, perhaps.... I will pass but 2h is tempting. the hog
2♥. Pass is unreasonable. :) Opposite as little as: Axxx T9x xxxx Ax you are cold for 5♦. Opposite as little as: AQxx Txx xxx QJx or KQTx xxx xxx QJx you have a lot of play for 3NT. Hmm. It looks like there might be a H ruff in the offing here. It's hardly "cold." Anyway I pass. Absolutely loath the 2C bid on a non existent suit. It really deserves a 5C bid. Whats wrong with 1NT?
mike777
"Whats wrong with 1NT?" If 1nt is limited to 11-13..you(me) got a problem.......maybe even a problem if 11-14? tough hand.

The problem with bidding a non existent suit here is that you may well lose the H suit. Look at this responding hand for example:Qxxxx Axxx xx xxAfter 1D 1S 2C responder will give prefence to 2D and your H fit is futsch! Or with Qxxx Axx xx xxxx partner will pass 2C and you play in the wonderful 4-3 C fit rather than your 5-2 D fit. Further if you saying that opener should always bid 2H on this hand after preference to 2D, look at the number of posters who are passing. Nope, I still think 2C sucks. If you don't like bidding 1NT, bid 2D.
pclayton
I held this hand. I'm very surprised Ron is coming down so hard on 2♣. 1N is wrong on two counts and 2♦ is also flawed. I passed 2♦. 9 or 11 tricks seemed a long way off, although this particular partner isn't the modern type that would respond with a 4 count. She actually held: ♠Axxx ♥K ♦T9xx ♣Qxxx (Do you agree with 2♦?) 11 tricks was a breeze with this catch. Gratifying to know most of my peers pass 2♦ however. Rebound
I may be crazy but I think it's worth 3♦. Partner (typically) has at least 9 cards in the minors so you have a double fit, plus the spades are headed by the A and you have shortness in the unbid suit. Or perhaps if a mini-splinter in ♥ is available.
Codo
I am with Ron and dislike the 2 Club bid. I had bid 1 NT or 2 Diamond depending on my agreements. Pds hand was fine for 2 Diamond, because the singelton K sucks. It is not much better then Axxx,x,xxxx, qxxx.
Fluffy
The only sensible way to reach game wod be to bid 2 diamonds instead of 2 cubs and get a raise, but that raise is far from clear.
Double !
It's hands like this that make playing reverse flannery responses to 1m look more and more attractive to me. At least I don't have to worry about missing a 4-4 heart fit. Oh, well, I guess you give up something to gain something. DHL
