Worth of inviting? and what if yes?

This is the kind of hand where you consider not inviting, but if don't you will feel very silly that you didn't as partner quickly claims overtricks.

I'll probably go down

You mean partner will go down.

I hate inviting when partner can't judge because we bid our xxxx suit. I'm not saying I hate the 1 bid, just that inviting is pointless because partner can't judge correctly, even though I think on values it's worth an invite. So I'll guess pass instead of 4.

As a passed hand I must at least invite opposite a 6 card suit, so 3 Heart is it.

And I disagree that this hand is strong enough for 2 Diamond, planing to rebid spades later.

F.E.: Pd has AKxx, AKxxx, xxxx,x and bids what opposite 2 from a passed partner? If you are not strong enough to open, you are hardly strong enough to reverse now.

FWIW, I would have bid 2 on the previous round.

As it is, I'm leaning towards 4 but I'm scared pard might be forced in s if the opps find that lead (or switch). I agree with Josh about the fact that your spades are crap that pard can't properly evaluate his hand. But also, if we jump to game quickly, opps might lead a minor which will probably work out nicely for us. I also gave a jump to 3N some thought. It's more of a gamble so maybe I shouldn't, but I like the idea of keeping opps in the dark about my hand. While a spade lead through responder's suit occurs now and then, rarely will they lead into it. Hearts could easily run and if pard has only 5 s then chances are good he has 4 s.

Mark me down for a 3NT gamble.

.

Not possible after this bidding. If he has 5332 he will rebid NT and with 5/4 his suit.

So he promised 6+ Hearts.

Very good point. But at the table I'd surely bid 4 :)

Opps silent, I passed at 1st seat, and parter opened 1, i responded 1 (2 better?).

Anyway, after partner rebid 2, what to call?

This is a clear 3H bid, your overall strength justifies the invitation. HQJ can be very good,

DKQJ, CQ can have some value. 4H is a clear overbid because of the poor control. Pass is just way too chicken.
