etjb
I have a series of bridge hands that i would like to upload to bbo for a tourney. How can I convert the lin or txt file to the bridge movie format that BBO uses?
inquiry
You can load lin files or PBN files into tournaments on the BBO. IF you have a lin file already, you are ready to load it. A pbn will work as well. After you get the file saved in pbn or lin format that you want, follow these directions taken directly from BBO help.... A File on Your PC refers to a text file that you have created on your personal computer. When you click the Create Tournament button, a Windows “Open” dialog will be presented that allows you to specify the file. The file can be located in any folder on your computer, but by default, the open dialog will show a folder called lists located in the same folder where the BBO client is installed (you can then navigate anywhere on your computer, but it is convenient to use the default location). etjb
Thanks for your help but I am still having problems. I get the hands emailed to me in txt msg. I then copy and paste it into wordpad and save as a txt file. When I go to upload it to BBO the only option is for a PBN file. How do I convert into PBN - do I need special software? inquiry
your original post suggested you already had them in lin format. That format (which you can open with netbridgevu -- the progam used to play bridge on bbo) works fine. If you only have a text file, you can create a lin file by logging onto the bbo, click the green "movie" button on the bottom of the window, and manually Before you start, click the "new" button on the bottom left. Since this is for a tournament, just click format "one" table, and number of boards from 1 to the last board for your turnament, something like 8 or 10, etc. Since you will be entering the hands manually, choose "empty" as deal source. You can do what you like for event name and segment name. Leaving them blank will work for you. Then enter the hands. If you enter all the cards for three hands the fourth hand will be filled auctomatically. BTWm use "T" for "10". Then use the save button to save the hand. After you enter the first hand, click on board 2 and enter the second hand, and so on. Be sure to save your work often, and especially after you enter all the hands for a tournament. Freebie
I have a similar problem... I'm trying to upload deals into a training bidding room.It seems that in this case only LIN format is allowed (a click on open in movie allows only files of bridge movie file type). I can upload a LIN file (found on the net or even generated by BBO) but 1) it seems to work randomly : upload of the same file sometimes works the first time but doesn't work the second (or the third) time2)when it works it is only for one deal : click on the redeal button always pops up the warning message that new deals will be generated randomly (generally i have 4 occurences of this message - even if my file contains only one deal). I've tried various combinations of files (with or without bidding, play, results, players names,...) with no success. Is there somewhere a precise description of the LIN format (not found on the web) or could you explain me (give me an example file?) of what works? Thanks a lot
