FFBBO Question

Already have and use BBO online as well as a few bits of BB software. My questions are:

1) If I were to install the FFB flavour of BBO ffbridgenligne, would I still have the option of using 'normal' BBO when I want?

2) Does it install a separate program and how to the auto-upgrades work?

3) Anything else I need to know re FFBBO?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am going to assume you mean BBOFlash

1. You can use both. Eventually, perhaps, it will go to all flash, but if it does, then of course everyone will use flash. Right now flash is "pre-beta" and is under development

2. Flash upgrades are at the server level, so no upgrades to your personal computer will be necessary (of course, if flash itself is updated, that is different, and out of bbo control).

3. It is a beta-product. Use it at your own risk (should not hurt your computer, but all functionality is not there yet). Report any problems here.

For those who do not know, FFBBO is a custom version of the BBO client that we made for the French Bridge Federation (FFB).

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, but it isn't really necessary since you can access all of BBO through the FFBBO client if you want.

2. It installs a separate program. Autoupgrades will take care of themselves. Whichever client you happen to be logged in with with automatically update itself whenever a new version is available.

3. Nothing comes to mind. I suggest you try it and ask one of the FFBBO yellows if you have further questions. I will try to answer if you post more questions here, but the FFB people are likely have know more than me about most aspects of FFBBO.

Thanks for the response, Fred.

My father wanted to be able to have 'original' BBO and FFBO completetly separate ie one with

- French language

- Tie in to FFB number

and the other with

- English language

- Better front end

and he wanted to use different psuedonyms for each one.

Unfortunately, the FFBO changed the original BBO to semi french so they obviously share common files.

Would there be a way to achieve what my father is asking for?

Thanks for your support.

This can be done by selecting a different installation folder for FFBBO than was done for the "normal" BBO client.

Given the state things are in now, it might be a good idea to uninstall both programs before reinstalling them to different folders.

In the installation programs for both BBO and FFBBO, the installation folder is specified on the 3rd screen that appears.
