1) 2S is enough for me. The cards outside of spades are really poor. I will bid 3S if 3H comes back to me.

2) I have no idea why I did not bid 4S the previous round. I guess I'll do that now. I tend to believe that at these colors, my opponents prefer not to give away free candy against potential partscores.

1. 3 - shows a good hand.

2. Why didn't I bid 4 the 1st time? I have a very prime 15 count. What to do now?

Hartman's Rule and Hamman's motto of "Trust your vulnerable opponents" both come to mind.

I've gone back and forth (twice). Some of the hands I constructed have us beating 4 for 500 when we are making 4, but we are still getting 4 for 200. I hate playing tops and bottoms but I think LHO has stepped in it if I trust pard, so I'll pass.

4h-2 pard(advanced level)says should have double because 3s shows weak hand.

Just bid 4S on the first one if you are playing with a random partner, they won't know what 3S means anyways. There is a difference between good bridge and winning bridge.

As far as trusting your vulnerable opponents, this also does not apply vs random opponents. Hamman plays against non random opponents and thus can take liberties like assuming the opps have not gone insane. Against almost all opponents if they bid 2C and then 4C vulnerable I would totally assume they did not have their bid, especially when partner doubles them.

I know I'm (relatively) new at this, but why would you want to preempt opponents when they have not yet found a fit, and one of them is known to be weak?

If 2 were strong, then I can see 3 being preemptive.

As for blasting, I disagree. It's cynical to assume pickup partner won't understand, or will criticize. Yes, it can and does happen, but how can you improve as a bridge player (and how can you find and develop new partnerships) if you're constantly chosing defensive bids over what you think is right?
