kgr
1S in following denies a 4+ card S. What is 1NT and 3NT by opener in following bids:1C-(1H)-1S!-(DBL)1NTand1C-(1H)-1S!-(DBL)Pass-(2H)-3H-(Pass)3NTI wonder if you bid 1NT with minimum and a stop and 2nd sequence shows half a stop?..I had something like AQx-Qx-Kxx-Jxxxx and choose 2nd sequence. (partner had ♥xx and opps did lead ♠, but 3NT was still hopeless)
P_Marlowe
1S by partner should also deny a heart stopper, else he can bid 1NT, 2NT or 3NT.Partner should prefer a showing bid to an askingbid. Passing 1Sx should show a 4 card spade suit, partner can still hold a 3 carder. 3NT in the 2nd squence shows a stopper, partner did ask you, if you have one.You may need to bid 3NT with a prayer, but 3NT shows a stopper. With your given hand, I would bid 2C ugly, but partners spade "shortness" and since he does not have a heartstopper makes it likely he has some clubs. With kind regardsMarlowe
