Free
We have a club magazine where a panel solves bidding problems. Like the previous poll I disagree with their choice (most bid 3♥ while 4♣ is clear imo), so I want confirmation here as well. You hold:[hv=d=e&v=n&s=sakjt543ha982dk2c]133|100|Scoring: MP[/hv] The auction goes (we are red, MP):3♣ - ? What do you bid?
655321
4♠ Prefer 4♠ to double because:I don't want to defend 3♣X,If West raises to 5♣ I would rather bid 4♠ then double, instead of double then 5♠,and this hand is happy to play in spades not hearts almost regardless of partner's major suit holdings. P_Marlowe
Hi, X it is either X followed by 4S, or 4S direct.I think the hand is to good for a direct 4Sbid, and thats why I would choose this route. I am not sure, I will be wiser after partnersresponse to my t/o X. With kind regardsMarlowe
han
4S. The alternative is 4C followed by 4S imo, never double! This would show a better picture of our hand but would make us more vulnerable to a 5C raise. EDIT: thought we had 5 hearts instead of 4 when I suggested 4C. ArtK78
4♠. I have a strong hand with a long, strong spade suit. What could be simpler?
pclayton
4♠ for me (I'm sort of surprised at the plurality of a lot of these votes). Looking for the 4-4 heart fit is misguided as I don't like this hand getting tapped and possibly cutting off the linkage to the long spades.
