Guest Jlall
What is up with these problems lately? I bid 3N because partner came in red/white at the 3 level and I have diamonds VERY well stopped and a lot of HCP and no heart fit. I don't understand what else you can do? pclayton
3N. It's nice to have your bid once in awhile.

the hog
3NT. Agree that no further comment is necessary.
gwnn
I suppose 4♥ is also an alternative but it's definitely not logical ;) . RHO will overruff dummy. It's very likely that in fact there are less tricks in ♥ than in NT.

I did bid 3nt Partner thought I might pass, he said he might have doubled if he had a better hand. As it was they had 6 top clubs and 2 other aces...partner had: AQx...KQJ9xx...xx...xx
ArtK78
3NT is absolutely clear. Whether partner should bid 4♥ is the issue on this hand. Quite frankly, partner's hand is, at best, minimum to enter a live auction at the 3-level. I am sure there would be many who would not bid 3♥ on those cards after partner could not act over 2♦ and RHO bids 2NT.

benlessard
R vs W partner entered the auction because he expect to make something. So 3nt is clearcut. IMHO W vs R its would be a complete different story where 3H could be inv for sacrifice and X would show the goodish hands .
ASkolnick
I know I am late and already saw the answer, but why is 3N so clear cut?You have a 10 count, with no aces. The no fit with partner makes the call even worse since, you do not have any real source of tricks. How am I going to get to 9 tricks without hearts breaking well, which they probably don't since I don't think he has to have a solid suit. cherdano
I would duplicate the auction.

It is clear for the reasons that I cited and that Ben cited - partner entered into a live auction at the three level red against white after you passed over 2♦. Partner MUST have a very good hand for that action. You could hardly have more than you have for a 3NT call. I would suspect that the 2NT call was a psyche.
