I would like to double them for penalty, but I doubt that I can.

1. We normaly play neg. double, why should this be a different situation? There are still two suits to be shown. I won´t bother whether you should use penalty doubles in this situation or not. But pd may well expect my double to be take out.

2.A hand too weak to answer to 1 Heart should have a penalty double to 2 Spade after 2 opponents bid Spade and my pd showed a hand with 1,5 stoppers in that suit? (And we are sitting in front of the spade length btw) Sorry, if we have no explicit agreements for this problem, partner will never ever play me for a penalty double.

I can still double to show my maximum and my minors, but I doubt that pd will sit for it.

So what are the alternatives?

What is 2 NT ? I would believe that this is a take out with 5/5 in the minors or it is 5/4 with no willingness to play 2 Spade doubled.

I think, I go for 2 NT. And if pd takes this as take out and bids a minor, I may even think about 3 NT and is it just to make up for the mess I created first round with my pass.

Pass is too much passive for MPs I guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be the right course of action....

A Double here is surely penalty (consequence of partner's bids).

2NT should be something like "pick-up" a minor as you sure are favorite to hold them both (you don't have 3 hearts, you probably can't have 3 spades, and since you didn't bid a minor....).

3C/D should be natural and to play.

I don't feel confortable with neither of those.

But by far the one I like less is double. I don't know what exactly pd bid 1NT with, but I still have a difficult time to figure where our 7 tricks will come from (especially if one realizes that we probably have too many stuff concentrated in opponents suit)....

Having said that, I bid 3C. Pass is too passive for me.

This occurred some time ago and I don't remember real well the whole deal. Pard has Qxx KQ1098 AKJ Kx I believe. 2 was cold, 3 is two down, 3 is one down on the opps' layout. At the table there was no balance over 1 but there should have been.

I thought the title of the thread meant "If South had passed instead of bidding 1NT this might have happened"
