Finch
The last is the easiest. I would bid 4C. The second I would bid 5C. Frightening, but RHO could probably have bid 4C to ask partner to transfer to his suit, so I deduce RHO is weak and didn't want to give an extra round of bidding away. The first is horrible. I double, to show high cards, but will pass out 5minor (I assume you mean minor, not major).
Codo
Hand 1: Maybe 4 NT was choose your minor? I bid 5 Spade, knowing that this won´t make. But I dno´t know if they can make 5 or 6 in a minor, so I want them to guess. 2: 5 Club. They did not bid on HCPs. They bid on fit, maybe even as a defence. So I must come in now and I like to introduce my longest suit. 3: 4 ♣ isn´t this a textbook bid?
jdaming
1) Pass. I think 5♠ is going down pretty hard and I think they have very little room to make and educated decision on 5 or 6♣. Secondly, I think that action here is likely to give declarer a roadmap to the contract. Partner probably has a dog and if you bid declarer will know it and play you for everything perhaps making a previously unmakable 6♣. Double wouldn't be bad except for the above point and that I think it might suggest a longer ♥ holding. Even if it does just show points what hands could partner possibly have that he would want to get in at the 5 level with that he didn't do anything prior? I can't think of too many. 2) 5♣ seems fine. 3) 4♣
ArtK78
1) Pass. I am assuming that 4NT was pick your minor. There is no way to know what is going to make on this hand. It is equal nonvul, and any action by me could produce a number. I do not have enough distribution or high cards to warrant any action. 2) 5♣. Unlike the first hand, I do have enough distribution and high cards to warrant an action. I do not want an adverse double game swing. Bidding runs the risk of going for a number, but passing is even riskier. 3) 4♣. Anything else is bidding scared.
whereagles
1. Dbl... what else can I do? 2. Dbl to show diamonds, followed by 4NT to show longer clubs. If pard can't understand this, 5♣. 4. 4♣. Tough set, there.
P_Marlowe
#1 X, telling partner that you have a good hand, ... or that you are awake, maybe partner will know what to do #2 5C, I bid my suit #3 4C, I show the fit With kind regardsMarlowe
pclayton
1. Double. This is why I love this 2N opener because of the problems it creates. This could be a double game swing, or we could be getting creamed at the 5 level. My first reaction was to pass, but consider this: RHO is prepared to play in either minor. Therefore, I think theres a good chance that we have a fit, but I'm only interested if pard can take a call. Even if 5♥ or 5♠ doesn't make, it could be -100 against their game. 2. 5♣. I think I have to take a call and pard will choose wrong over 4N with 3-2 in the minors. 3. 4♣. Blecch. Very tough problems Michael.
Apollo81
1. Pass, feeling halfway decent about it. 2. 5♣ 3. 4♣
benlessard
1- clear pass for me if partner cannot find a bid over 2Nt then its unlikely we have game. With a stronger hand i would X to show cards. 2- Without established defense but with a top notch partner i assume X = D5D=super long D5C=CX & 5C = both m equal lenghtX & 4Nt = D+C longer D4Nt = C+D longer C But you should play a 2 suiter defense since in IMPS 2 suiter are so important. 4- WTP 4♣ will pass a 4S by opps
