Judgement day

4

On the previous round (assuming it was available as a natural bid) I prefer 4.

Partner may be 4153: Opponents probably have 9 card , and a singleton is also likely, given that partner has made a penalty double of a partscore. So I am hoping for a fit, and that partner doesn't think I am pulling from fear. 6 might be the right spot, and 5 will often make.

I think partner is more likelly to have 4162 than 4153, but both are possible. Our defensive tricks aren't null.

Given that opponents aren't jumping around, some normal layouts would mean 2 or 3 tricks in our hand. Passing 3X can be our last chance of going plus, but it is just too risky at IMPs IMO.

On my patnership I would bid 4 becuase 4 would seem to be a 1516.

There must be some reason people aren't bidding 4.  What is it?

Perhaps the void ? :)

4 does show the slam ambitions with this freak but it bypasses 4.

I am torn between committing the hand to the 5 level with 4 and just bidding 4

What a nightmare.

Partner's hand is most likely 4=1=6=2, but this could be off by a card in each suit.

Imagine Q109x x AKQxxx xx. Bidding could turn 500/800 into a minus

Imagine A10x x AQxxxx Qxx. Passing could turn 600/620 (I don't think we want to be in slam) into -730.

I am pulling to 4. 5 is too much, because partner may be 4=2=5=2 or even 4=2=6=1.

And 4 shows more hearts than clubs.. he should sit for 4 with 3=1=6=3 for example, and now I probably need to be in clubs. Plus, if there is a slam, which I doubt, it will usually be in clubs rather than hearts

I will pass.

I think game on a misfit is difficult.

A club part score nets us 130.

Double them and set them 1+ vulnerable.

Where is their source of tricks? Its not like they are 5-5 and can cross ruff.

We have all the side suits bottled up.

Pard should probably lead trumps.

As weird as this sounds I'm going to pass.

We have 3 suits controlled and pard has expressed an opinion and wants to defend. We may have an 8 card heart fit or even a 9 card club fit, but theres a lot of work to do. It could be +500 versus a making game, but we also might be annihilating 3S.

3) Now I should be showing extras, with extra shape and a void in spades.

Interesting. To me, 4 says "I don't think we can set 3". I certainly wouldn't take it to show extras.

for me 3c showed extras. (2nt very often shows minimum/good/bad)

pull of double I would hope my partners would think I have a void. ;)

see points one and two
