han
[hv=d=n&v=e&s=sk10xxxhkq10xdcxxxx]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] Partner opens 1H, pass by righty, your call?
pclayton
This meets my requirements for a splinter to 4♦. Anyone that makes a limit raise or keeps this below 4♥ is underbidding this hand. 1♠ is OK too.
Guest Jlall
hate everything, splintering will get you to a lot of bad slams unless you have 2 ways of splintering. I mean what is partner going to do with Axx AJxxx Axx Kx opposite a splinter lol. You will also get to the 5 level too often. There is really no good solution, I guess I'd bid 1S and then 4H even though that sucks.
jdonn
I would splinter. It is a bad bid, but I don't see any other way to be more accurate and at least it gives some useful information. I would indeed prefer two ways of splinter, which I do play in most of my partnerships.
helene_t
Good hand for mini splinter. otherwise I make a limit raise.
Fluffy
1NT followed by 4♥, this shows a shapy good raise to 4♥. I think it is better than 1♠ then 4♥ because 1♠ and then 4♥ can be a random 12 count with 3 hearts, and even though it puts the spade suit into picture it seems less accurate than 1NT-
EricK
If I wanted to explore for a slam on this hand then I would bid 2NT. eg If partner shows a singleton ♣ things look more promising, if he shows a singleton ♠ they look lousy, if he shows a snigleton ♦ I'll look surprised.
