DWM Posted December 13, 2007 Report Share Posted December 13, 2007 Utalising Lebenshol (slow denies) after 1NT interference what do the following seqences show? 1NT - (1H) - 2NT - (P)3C - (P) - 4S 1NT - (1H) - 3S 1NT - (1H) - 4S We play the second sequance is GF just not sure what the difference between the 3 ways of getting to game should show. paulg Posted December 13, 2007 Report Share Posted December 13, 2007 The second sequence typically expresses doubt over the final contract, so will often be based on a 5-card spade suit. The third sequence shows a hand that wants to play in 4♠, so normally a 6-card suit and may be pre-emptive in nature. I've never defined the first sequence. Finch Posted December 13, 2007 Report Share Posted December 13, 2007 Fully agree on the second two: immedite 3S shows doubt, either about strain (may only have 5 spades) or may be a slam try; the last just shows a hand that wants to play 4S. I've never had the first auction, but I have had the auction 2S x P 2NTP 3C P 4H which at the table we both thought showed a mild slam try in hearts. Back to the question: 1) No H stop, probably some extras in addition to gf 2) Probably a 5 card suit, giving partner a chance to bid 3NT if he has only 2 card support.
