paulg
British Gold Cup semi-final. How do you play ♥AK opposite ♥862? When this is the trump suit in a doubled grand slam it doesn't really matter! The cost was -1700. How do you think that two expert players, who haven't played many boards together despite playing in the semi-final, bid confidently to 7♥ in 5 bids. Opposition are silent. gwnn
1NT(12-14 including ♥AK)-2♦ (GF stayman OR transfer)2♥- and I can't figure out the rest of it
Codo
1 ♥ 4 ♥4 NT 5 ♦7 ♥ 4 Heart Was bid as preempt and understood as to play with 12-15 HCPS opposite the limited opening. 5 Diamond showed 3 or 0 KCs and opener thought this must be 3 because else he could not have 12-15. He did not wat responder to pass 5 Heart, so he bid the GS on his own. Okay this is more a non-expert story, but the "best" way I can think about in just 5 bids. Oh, one more: 2 ♣ 2 ♥4 NT 5 ♦7 ♥ 2 Club was strong 2 Heart was positive with Hearts for opener and second neg. for responder.
benlessard
agree with Roland. Since opps double i assume they had some side strenght elsewhere then in H. So not only there was a strain problem but there was also a strenght problem. So that why i thnik Roland is right.

paulg
Roland was very close. 2♣ (1) 2♦ (2)2♥ (3) 4♥ (4)7♥ (5) ... (Dble) (1) Strong(2) Negative or waiting(3) Opener: Kokish, hearts or strong balanced Responder: hearts(4) Opener: 6/7 hearts to the QJ Responder: heart support, weakest possible hand(5) To play Of course they both have heart support, unfortunately an opponent has the suit itself. As one who is not a fan of 2♦ waiting and really views Kokish as basically unneeded, a cruel smile came across my face while reading this  . I also wonder why one of them, perhaps realizing a system screw up, didn't run to 7NT and how that would have fared ?
ArtK78
Anytime a partnership forgets a convention the result can be ridiculous. Usually it is not on such a "grand" scale, however.
nige1
Roland was very close ...2♣ (1) 2♦ (2)2♥ (3) 4♥ (4)7♥ (5) ... Otherwise, it seems that opener was super-ethical because he will have have noted responder's failure to alert his Kokish 2♥ rebid
paulg
No screens in use. This happened in the final set when they were already 60 IMPs down.
