Walddk
1♥ pass pass 2NT1♠ pass pass 2NT I assume that most experts play 2NT in this position as natural, roughly 19-21. Furthermore, I assume thay you play system on. I am interested in knowing what your agreement is if responder transfers into the opening suit. Finch
In partnership 1: shows singleton or void in opener's suit and (usually) a 3-suiter.In partnership 2: two-way: either weak, to play in opener's suit at the 3-level, or singleton or void heart with 3 cards in the other major. (in both partnerships 1major P P 2NT P 4major is to play)
Robert
Hi everyone The transfer shows shortage. You will have 3-4 cards in the other major. I prefer to show the shortage and 3-4 in the OM rather than 'not show' the shortage. Regards, Robert
ArtK78
I play the same methods that I use after a 2NT overcall of a weak 2 bid: 3♣ Puppet Stayman. And, since I play 4-suit transfers, I must bid 3♣ to get to 3NT. 3♦, 3♥, 3♠ and 3NT are transfers, except for the opponent's suit. The transfer into the opponent's suit is actually a transfer to the next higher suit. A bid of the opponent's suit is a cue-bid. 4♦ is a transfer to the unbid major. Furthermore, I assume thay you play system on. I am interested in knowing what your agreement is if responder transfers into the opening suit. Since my NT bids don't promise stoppers ;), a transfer to opener's suit is a stopper ask (overcaller re-cues with a half stop). Same thing if the NT is in direct seat. han
We never play systems on over a 2NT overcall. We play transfers (3S shows clubs) and a transfer into their suit is stayman.
