helene_t
I would open under these circumstances, if 1♠ does not conform to our style it would be 2♠. 4♠ now.
whereagles
I'd pass because pard, who's short on hearts, didn't dbl. So he's broke.
P_Marlowe
Hi, #1 I would open 2S.#2 No. With kind regardsMarlowe
ArtK78
Just because pard didn't double a vul 4♥ opening when he rates to be short in hearts doesn't mean he is broke. And we don't have to make 4♠ to come out ahead on this auction. I bid 4♠ now. Of course, I would not have passed in first seat. But that is not the issue. whereagles
Of course, I would not have passed in first seat. But that is not the issue. Actually, it is an issue. If you had opened, you could now pass without a qualm.

jdonn
I like 4♠ now, high risk high reward but I think it rates to work out. Also I don't mind passing to begin with since usually you can overcall spades at a low level next round, but if I must open then I much prefer 2 to 1. I am not so much into 5 card weak two bids as I used to be, I think it often makes it too hard for partner to judge where to play when it's our hand. gwnn
reminds me of my unfavorable adventure 2♥(5-5)-p-3♥-p4♥-p-p-4♠ +790 and 4♥ was an easy make (and yes, my hand was worth 3♠) I'd try 4♠ here also, but I'm not that confident. Echognome
With three baby hearts... color me yellow, err... actually green. I'm using that card because there's no yellow card in my box.
neilkaz
I open this hand 2♠ which I feel actually preempts decently. But I don't mind a 1♠ opening either, but certainly dislike the initial pass. At these colors after passing initially I have a slight preference to bid 4♠, but would pass at any other colors. keylime
Somebody's short in hearts, and pard didn't double. I'm passing, and wondering why I didn't open initially.
benlessard
Clear 2S opening. Bidding 4S is bad. At Mp hoping for -500 or -300 is a good gamble but at imps its a dubious tactics. Do you really think a double swing game is possible ? Chance for making a phantom sac are more likely then finding a super cheap save. Here are possible result. they make game we are -4 = -5 ***we are -3 = +3 ***we are -2 = +8 or (+11) **we are -1 = +11 * they dont make game. we are -3 = -12 *we are -2 = -9 (-5) **we are -1 = -5 (-4) *** ()= they dont X us. Its possible we are down 2 and they dont X us. But its also possible that they go down more then 1 (vulnerable undertricks) or that they bid 5H anyway and make it. Also it wouldnt suprised me that S break really badly and we go down 5. Or that they dont make game and we are -4. *** = more frequent** = less frequent* = rare
Walddk
I go active when I have to choose between active and passive. 4♠ it will be. I don't mind the initial pass. It's not quite good enough for 1♠ in my view, and 2♠ has too many flaws. Roland
